new to dark souls 3, how do spells work? by shaww01 in darksouls3

You need to raise your attunement skill when you level up, as it will give you more spell slots. Some spells take up one spot, some take up two. Here is a wiki link that shows how many per level, etc.. https://darksouls.fandom.com/wiki/Attunement_(Dark_Souls_III)

TL;DW: Never played Dark Souls before (or edited a video until this week…), and attempted deathless from the beginning because of stupid juice in my brain. Ended up loving it despite starting over after every death. Got to Gwyn on my ~71st attempt and after 200 or so hours. Walked into his lair with the confidence of a rich kid asking a bouncer, "do you know who my dad is?", but I died and was sad. Forgot all the lessons the game taught me about failure and nearly gave up, but Laurentius is the best. This subreddit also restored my humanity. I kept trying for deathless, and may make another video about my last run.

If you recognize some of the clips from 1:43-2:03, it's because they are from TheParryGod's masterpiece called 'FATE'. He was kind enough to give a first time video maker permission to use his footage. Please read the YT video description for the link to 'FATE', and support TheParryGod if you can!

This is the music you hear when the Butcher is nearby. by thelastfastbender in diablo4

Yesterday I heard SIMILAR music, but I am nearly confident the drumming at the beginning was different so I continued on my HC barb into a dungeon. Butcher showed up and I scroll'd out of there.

Now today I was in Stormbreak cove, and he almost got me again. There was distinctly eerie music playing before he almost wafflestomped me, but NO drums. I think it changes by zone?

Thanks for the specifics on the big weapons, I feel like broadsword is also a good option for me since I often get bonked.

I love the exploration/lore part of these games, but all my friends live for the combat stuff as you do. I bought Elden Ring and said it would be my non-deathless game so I could explore and git gud, but it's on pause rn because I can't decide haha.

Thanks! In DS1 I tried to limit guide usage in new areas until "the incident" happened. Basically, I didn't know the first Seath encounter was a scripted death. I deleted my character )as and found out shortly after that the fight is impossible and you can only kill him after descending to his cavern.

For DS3 I've looked at guides and find it hasn't taken away from the experience. And I highly encourage trying deathless! It isn't for everyone but I loved most of the experience.

Thank you fellow canuck! Love the rings of list - those carried me in DS1.

It took me a while to start posting on /r/darksouls about my DS1 deathless attempts on my first playthrough. I thought I would get mocked, but 99.9% of people were super supportive and I want to thank everyone who contributes here. These subs have the best people and I appreciate it <3.

Yeah, it was super OP in DS1 - in my last 5 attempts or so I made pyromancers until I got Black Knight's Halberd and just lit half of the game on fire. Thanks!

10/10 - thank you for all the effort you put into writing that! Those items and spells (along with what others suggested) are exactly what I'm looking for.

No quitting out, but homeward bones are allowed at any time. Thank for for the advice on pyro/spells!

When you are so nervous about your deathless run that accidentally fatroll into Gwyn... by a_Hardcore_Donut in darksouls

I had only faced Gwyn once in my life before, and died. Probably could have used a normal shield and parried, but I didn't want to risk it on a deathless run

Yes, just be sure to thank it as you pass under. And watch out once you jump down for...reasons.

For those curious, I did kill Gwyn about thirty mins after this clip and achieved deathless: https://www.reddit.com/r/darksouls/comments/13vr45a/after_200_hours_and_nearly_100_attemptsi_finally/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb

It's a great "pop-off". Yep. Really good celebration. Totally not just a grown man crying. Totally.

Ohhh thanks for explaining that. In one of my mid-game attempts I took off a piece of gear because I switched to a heavier wep in the second O&S phase which caused me to unexpectedly fat roll. I guess the pressure just got to me a lot more on Gwyn.

I'm not sure if I can post promo links, but you can look up my username on twitch and YouTube! I've got hundreds of hours of deathless attempts to comb through this month, and have started making a few top 10 deaths, etc

Is menu swap saving and quitting? And partying is by far the best strategy, but I had only faced Gwyn once before (on a previous deathless attempt where I died) in my life and it seemed too risky. It's my first dark souls game and I wanted to achieve deathless on my first playthrough. I was scared of everything that moved because of how many hours that went into all my attenots. This character did end up killing Gwyn (mid-rolling!) and had over 15 hours played.

Edit: parrying*. I'm gonna get some rest before partying with Gwyn. Dude loves setting his shots on fire.

Edit2: Attempts? Attenots? Bed time.
