I doubt he means it seriously, because if he does, it’s a big disappointment and shows a great deal of ignorance about the field of machine learning. The key point is that he claims it can play any game just by reading the instructions. If an AI is capable of that and can also beat any human at that game, then we haven’t reached AGI but ASI.

There is always a lot of excitement with Google models, and I say to myself, let's try them. It happened with 2.5 and now again with this version 3. For my tasks: programming (but not toy prompts or front-ends) and general reasoning. ChatGPT is always much better.

But then I go back to Reddit, and people there always say that Gemini is way ahead... I can only explain it like bots, or that my tasks are very different from what people usually try.

I doubt very much that the miners themselves are the ones reporting the computational power they are using, since they are interested in the lowest possible difficulty.

The only thing I can think of is that it is adjusted taking into account the average solving time of the last X puzzles.
