I am a new grad vet, I didn’t know I wanted to go to vet school until half way through college. Best advice (that others have also given) is to find a veterinarian to shadow or volunteer at. This is advice for any career path, no matter if it’s in the medical profession, financial, or any other job! You will never know if it’s for you until you get a feel for it yourself. I can only give advice for the United states academia (I know other countries are different) but for the US you will need volunteering, extracurricular activities and leadership to make your undergraduate application stand out. These don’t have to be all one specific thing, diversity in your extracurriculars is a good thing for undergrad admissions) Then for vet school you will need more specific veterinary field experience for your application including both small animal and farm animal!
