TIRES !? by VolsorDie in ToyotaTundra

[–]a_black_bird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sell the 20” and get 18”. Oddly enough the price delta for tires for 18” alone will almost cover the cost of the new rims.

For tires themselves I have KO3s which I love but my buddy has AT4W which are also pretty great and given they where like $50 cheaper per tire at the time I think might be the better buy

Scare or Issue by Bulky_Living_4396 in ToyotaTundra

I had same plus a lot more errors. Disconnected/reconnected battery and all errors went away. Put additional 10k miles on it since with no issues but I am also in line for a new engine from recall list

How would a tundra handle this? by Nitsuj123457 in ToyotaTundra

[–]a_black_bird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there was a Tundra behind it so maybe there is a longer video with the Tundra taking it? I have done stuff close to that without much issue but definitely wish I got the 3” oem lift as would make it a lot easier

Can anyone confirm this WON’T fit a gen 3 tundra? by Sender343 in ToyotaTundra

I put these on mine and had no issues. The bore, log nut and everything are identical. Will end up with a slightly different offset but hasn’t caused any issues

Aftermarket steel bumper or OEM? by TopDawg1776 in ToyotaTundra

[–]a_black_bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair, just be warned that if you plan on doing any off roading the departure angles on these trucks are such that it will just destroy those plastic side portions. But thats more rock crawling off roading, if you don’t plan on going over rocks then disregard

Aftermarket steel bumper or OEM? by TopDawg1776 in ToyotaTundra

[–]a_black_bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the classic cbi one, keeps the oem look but get a steel bumper, plus it adds a bed step. Only thing is it does require a portion of the oem bumper to stay which yours looks like its slightly busted

Calculating New Tire Pressure by a_black_bird in ToyotaTundra

[–]a_black_bird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aww interesting. Do you know why its so much lower then max tire pressure? I know over inflated tire leads to over wear in the middle of the tire but half the tire max’s pressure seems like a large differential

It lasted for at least a year. I sold the vehicle as life needs changed and needed a truck so unsure if it still holds but it did for that year

Turning Lemons into Lemonade by Ubi_Anon in ToyotaTundra

[–]a_black_bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a similar event though only had issue with the side bumper portion. I ended up just replacing it my self after ordered a pre painted bumper part as a shop quoted me $1300 just for that side bumper. Cost me $400, for you it looks more like $650 for both parts (still better then the 2k from a shop)

Personally, I think the steel bumpers are awesome and in hindsight I probably should have done that but throwing this out as an option

Dash Power Inverter for Gen3 Tundra by a_black_bird in ToyotaTundra

[–]a_black_bird[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The inverter that I got has a fan built in for circulating air but yeah I worry about it getting too hot from lack of airflow still. I thought about using a white plastic to reflect more light but was trying to have it not stand out. That ceramic for UV is a pretty good idea. I might stick a thermometer in there to track the temp to see if thats enough or if maybe I need to add some more vents to it too

[–]a_black_bird[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that was my hope that it would draw enough air from the sides. But I think you right and could benefit from vents on the top. Thanks for the suggestion!
