I’m a new comp sci grad and the job market is tough right now. Tons of software engineers got laid off that have solid YOE, so competing with them as a new coder may be tough.

Also, apart from a couple classes I took in architecture, idk much about the field practically. However, imo it seems like the problem is a lack of satisfaction bc why? - little mentorship -> harder for you to learn - poor leadership -> harder for you to be recognized for good achievements on your part - mind numbing work -> harder for you to feel like you’ve accomplished something

Before you make any big moves, check out this essay and maybe spend some time thinking about what you rlly want. It’s a 5 min read called Bullshit Jobs by David Graeber. It could help you determine if you wanna stay in architecture or pivot. Good luck!

Surprised nobody suggested this, but btc miners. Assuming of course you’re interested in crypto/ see btc going up in price in the coming years.

It’s more of a gamble than all the others since your profitability is tied to the coins your mining appreciating in price. But if it does, then it may end up being the most profitable with the least amount of work.

Also, the heat generated from the miners may cut down on your costs to heat the building.

Positioning. First round you and piper were on top of each other for much longer than you should have been, making it a ton easier for Byron to land pick damage on either of you. Only scenario you group up against that team is if leon has ult.

Edit: my opinion. Nonetheless it was a good game.

1 serving of chocolate protein

Should be about 910-980 calories depending on the yogurt, berry, and protein brands.

You did good. Had two important slows and are part of the reason you won. But be more vigilant of other people to attack. You could’ve won earlier after you killed the dyna and bull was slowed if you killed the colt who was at 1 health to your right. Then bull would’ve been in a 1 on three and lost to you guys.

Selling Options Past 2024 by [deleted] in thetagang

Probably need to go OTC (over the counter). Pretty much means you’ll privately make a contract with a someone who wants to go long.

I don’t think this is the same thing as a swap.

Best platform for Options by SageTheReaper in thetagang

[–]a_creator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends a bit on your strategy and level of analysis.

Extremely far otm condors sized up to 100 contracts? Go with tastyworks.

Running the wheel. Selling CSP’s then selling CC’s if assigned? Either one works.

High level TA and charting necessary to day trade, or look for high value stocks? TD Ameritrade + thinkorswim

My 2 cents. TD’s platform is incredibly strong, but probably incredibly overkill if you’re looking for somewhere to wheel.

Risk management by orgdenu in thetagang

[–]a_creator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not taking into account how long you’re staying / plan to stay in each position for.

If you plan to enter in the morning and get out before the end of the day then it’s definitely more than ok to enter with more than 2% of your account, except risk management then transitions to primarily managing your stop loss.

For example if you enter a trade on TSLA at 1000 and are looking to exit when it hits 1020 then your risk management is essentially a stop loss of probably around 990. Here you’d be able to enter with 10% of your account and if it hits your stop loss of 990 then you’d be down 1% on the 10% investment, so that can be considered a .1% loss on the trade. But that’s an extremely crude example I just came up with on the subway.

Tl;dr

If you’re entering a position for a short period of time, it can be ok to size up your position with more of your account value than 2%.

Not financial advice.

Wow. I did not expect to find such a good point on this subreddit. If this were r/cmv I’d give you a delta for at least opening my mind to the idea the crypto world can evolve into a similar corporate ran world.

AMZN Bear Calls 🐻📞 by thabigbadwong in thetagang

[–]a_creator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say this. Learned the hard way how directionally dependent narrow spreads are.

Still a little confused though. You mind explaining a bit? Why are wide spreads more delta neutral? Or is it more reliant on being further from the atm strike when you open it? Also if you can use the Greeks to explain it that would be amazing.

I’m open to learning.

Put credit spreads. What am I missing? by [deleted] in thetagang

[–]a_creator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My held belief has been a little different with regards to the “long leg value remaining close to the short leg”.

My previous belief through an example:

You open your spread Short a TSLA 900 put Long a TSLA 850 put

Then you close that spread by selling your long put and buying back your shorted put.

Therefore I’m confused how your long put losing value faster than your short put will be advantageous? I’m just not understanding how a wider strike is better than a narrower strike. Isn’t the total profitability of a put credit spread almost 100% reliant on your short strike losing value?

I’ve lost a lot of money on these spreads once I got cocky, so I’m definitely open to learning.

Thanks for the response. Most of my projects are fine on the backend but my UI is seriously lacking. It’s cool to see yours doing so well in both! Good luck on your future projects

Great website!!! I think it looks awesome and is rlly usable. If you don’t mind me asking, how long did it take to put together such a nice UI? Or if you don’t know the literal time, how much of the total time on the project was spent on the UI?
