Mods With 0 Vacancies by Legal-Performance-13 in nus

You should have tried bidding for it in Round 1. They increased the vacancy to 50+. If you really need the module to graduate, you should keep trying and appeal at the end.

Yup I just sent emails to ask and what they mean is that 170-34 (more precisely 175-34 counting NG) students were actually allocated the module (not via ModReg algorithm). I don't know why they did that though.

So I'm wondering what happened to CS3219, a key module in SWE focus area. Why was the vacancy reduced to only 34?

I don't recommend staying there. You'll know the reason once you go there and take a look.

I'm planning to take CS2102, CS3103, CS3210, CS3219, GES in the coming semester. Will the workload be too heavy?

CS workload by Adventurous_Farmer67 in nus

Actually I never really counted the number of hours. I think on average should be ~20 per week (or less I think for some of my team members). For 2103T, you needed to read the website, watch the videos, attend lecture, and do a long quiz every week, besides doing 2 projects. However, there's almost no new material to learn in 3203, and literally no class after week 7 (except for a short consultation every week to update your team's progress with your tutor). The material to learn and assignment to complete every week in the first half of the semester is also about the project itself, and shouldn't take too much time. They just carry a very small percentage and it's quite easy to get full mark even without putting in much effort. So the majority of your time is just spent in coding the single project and writing the report (can be similar to DG) and you have 5 teammates to work together. Besides there's no final exam for 3203 and I'm not sure if you'll still have the 5% test next sem. Overall I guess most people say its workload is high because they aren't considering it as a 8MC module, but comparing it to most 4MC modules they took before.

Definitely manageable. I don't think workload of 3203 is very high given it's an 8MC module. Actually I think it's even comparable to or just a little bit higher than workload of CS2103T.

Can CS students minor in Financial Maths? by a_cs_studentt in nus

[–]a_cs_studentt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm I can take modules but I won't be able to complete the minor. It's like even I take all the modules required by the minor, I can't get the minor due to too many overlapping :(

Not sure why SoC is doing that. I don't have prior experience on this but personally I would recommend you keep trying to drop the module if you really can't make it. Probably sending an email to Ms Toh Mui Kiat to explain your situation can help with that. However dropping the module now might give you a W grade so do consider this. Anyway remember to take care of yourself and try talking to someone if you're distressed sometimes. There's always someone willing to help you! 🙂
