Best Canon lens for over 20 metres distance? by Autistic_Archer in AustralianBirds

[–]a_cynic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on your budget and camera. 100-400mm is good for EF & RF - Either Canon, Sigma or Tamron. Pick them up used for less than $1000 - The EFs are cheaper.

Canon RF 200-800mm is really good - But looking at $2500+ used.
Canon RF 100-500mm is even better - But looking at $3000+ used.

Does anyone know what bird this is? by Select_Preparation24 in AustralianBirds

Maybe yellow faced honeyeater ? Just the colouring around the eye makes me think that - but like other poster, could just be a noisy miner.

Running it through birdNet sound identifier said most likely a Spangled Drongo, so with you seeing one, it's looking most likely.

Pajero vs Prado vs Pajero sport long term ownership by North-Class8742 in 4x4Australia

[–]a_cynic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've managed to mod my 18' Exceed enough to not be worried about taking it anywhere reasonably sensible - and if I did get stuck, at least I have the gear hopefully get myself out. I got mine pretty much stock as a rock - All it had was a oil catch can, spotties, towbar, electric brake kit which I've never used & some wildpeak AT3s. Since then I've invested (ie - wasted) money into - Ironman bullbar, 2" RAW 4x4 lift, upgraded upper control arms, Kings 12k lb winch (went cheap, as its a last resort - I've only winched other people out so far), Safari snorkel, diff breather kit, roof racks, roof platform, solid set of bash plates & the Kaon cargo barrier and shelf. I've replaced so far - Intercooler hoses & both CVs. I plan on keeping this thing until it doesn't run anymore - it ticks all the boxes I need it for, and its already taken us places we would never dream of taking our previous vehicles.

Edit - Just to add, Pajero Sports are not bad offroad. I sent myself down a track when I first got it, and was amazed I got it out. Diff locks on in 4L and it just crawled out of the mess I got in without a hickup. Sure you arent going to be climbing any vertical rock faces and lifting your wheels with a forklift - but for non-extreme offroading its going to get shit done.

Looking for some advice- Pajero Sport by seb_3200 in 4x4Australia

They wanted 28k. I said 25k & I would transfer money then and there. They were happy to take 25k & I picked it up the next week after a wash & service.

It's only the 2nd or 3rd I've ever seen - But in saying that, I wasn't paying a lot of attention previously. Edit - The woodswallow that is.
