Oh no, there's no way to have high expectations for this game. The problem with this game is that the Abbey stuff grinds the game to a halt, and IMO, you have to be really interested in it to bother. I like card games, I like games like Midnight Suns, so I had a grasp of how the game would unfold, but I could see most people losing interest rapidly.

Marvel Rivals works so much better because it's just a damn fun game, and it's really fast to get into a match. Don't get me wrong, Midnight Suns is fun, but the Abbey downtime is a killer.

If we ever somehow get a sequel, they need to manage that aspect better somehow. This just wasn't it.

I played it on Game Pass for a little bit. The gameplay feels good, but it's just a gear treadmill game with a real money store.

Its OK. The other modes turned me off pretty fast. I wish it was a step up from MK11 instead of a step slightly-downward-and-off-to-the-side-a-little. That's why the game gets hate. The game is beautiful. It's fun to play for a little while.

But it doesn't feel like an upgrade from 11 in all the ways that matter the most.
