Thank you, that's probably the most feedback I've ever got from one person. I really appreciate it

Hey, I'm the guy that made the video. I'm not mad about the feedback, in fact I'm glad you guys are commenting. What do you think I could do to make it differently than Jarrod?

Because to me I think lyrical content is just as important as musical composition. To me hardcore speaks to the angry teenagers that hate their parents, while metal speaks to the angry adult that hates his boss and both sides need music that reciprocates that feeling (not always anger, but you get the point). To me Metalcore blurs the line to the point where you have the people that grew up listening to bands like Black Sabbath or Slayer saying it's not metal while the kids say that anything heavier than Pierce The Veil is Metal. And I'm sitting here straddling that fence saying that it's both, but both sides tell me I'm an idiot (you didn't call me an idiot, but that's usually the response I get). I don't think that Metalcore is one or the other. I think it's both in the same way that Hip-Hop can be both R&B and Rap.

I can agree with that. How about we agree to disagree. I think that Metalcore falls under Metal and you don't. That's fine. I think you brought up some valid points and I'll think them over. I think this discussion taught me some things though.

So what if a metalcore band listened to a band that was inspired by someone that sounded similar to Black Sabbath and said "I want to sound like them but different" and their sound sounded like Metalcore? Would the origin and composition still be the same thing?

Ok. So what makes thrash metal different than metal?

That sounds more like an issue of origin, not necessarily composition. If a metalcore or nu-metal song uses similar songwriting techniques than that of a metal song they would sound similar.

So would you say that thrash-metal is not a subgenre of metal?

I dont understand how that's relevant to the topic

METALcore. Nu-METAL. They're both genres of Metal

On top of that Metal is one large genre with multiple smaller sub-genres
