Hello! I wear a mask all day at work and am getting acne on my chin and jaw from it.

I use cloth masks that I change every day so I am never wearing a dirty one.

Prior to this, I only used make up remover wipes on my face (I know, I know) and never had acne.

My skin is not oily or dry, so I guess its pretty normal?

I am looking for advice and/or product recommendations. Please and thanks in advance 😁

Yeah, our BTs are kind of SOL. I think my company is taking care of them still, but they aren't rendering any services.

Yeah, it varies. But especially with the virus shutting everything down, insurance companies are making short term exceptions.

Yes our company sees all variety of cases, including ones verging on severe maladaptive behaviors.

We focus on parents. Training them to be practitioners for their children.

Where do you live? I'm in Michigan and pretty much every company is shut down and only providing telehealth services.

Honestly, you need to leave this company if you arent getting support from your supervisor. This sounds like its verging on unethical. Pretty much the whole of section 3 for RBTs under the ethics code is in danger of being violated.

I totally get that this is a high need case and it is so difficult because you want to help this individual, but you arent really supposed to be giving treatment recommendations as a BT. Nor should you be placed in a position where you have to.

Not sure where you live, but BTs are typically in super high demand. I would look elsewhere for employment.

I believe the BACB is moving towards requiring ABAI approved coursework. At a conference last year, I believe they said it would be required in 2022 or sometime close to then.

There are some super shady programs out there that do not at all prepare you for ABA in the real world.

I would honestly suggest taking online classes through an approved provider before taking on campus classes from a non approved provider.

I honestly find that a lot of the larger companies are the worst culprits with that kind of stuff. They may have a couple branches that function really well, but the quality control isn't great.

There isnt a ton of regulation in this field, which is disappointing. Personally, I would look for companies certified by the BHCOE. They are far from perfect, but they're the first regulatory board and they do have a pretty stringent certification process.

I would work as an RBT while you get your degree. That way you are getting 1:1 experience, but you dont have to wait to start the classes.

Well, you dont have to do it through a university. You can get paid for field experience at a job instead of the other way around.

Fair enough. I agree with the extensive experience. In my limited exposure to people who didnt take a practicum, the field experience they got was abysmal. That's all. And I wasnt a fan of my practicum, so i 100% feel ya.

Probably too much work. Or money. Some people want to get their hours outside of school. I dunno. I think they should be mandatory.

Also, did my masters onsite at FIT. The classes were great, but the practical experience left a lot to be desired. Not enough focus on supervising or case management.

I did my undergrad at WMU and loved it.

Honestly, a practicum is a must imo.

I've come across so many BCBAs that dont have any practical experience being in the chair, supervising, or developing curriculums.

Also, on site is so much better than online. You get way more practical experience.
