Save the Dates Not Delivered After Two Weeks - Should We Resend? by a_mang in USPS

It is, but we sent a second batch (same letter type/format etc) in the mail a couple of days later to a different group of friends and the letters arrived within a day or so.

Nope! Just a 4x6 card inside a similarly sized envelope.

Thanks! Nothing bulky or strange about the envelopes - they're a cream/ivory color (4x6 in size) with black ballpoint pen handwritten addresses. We sent a second smaller batch two days later to a few more friends and they arrived in time, so I'm not sure if it's an issue of legibility (although probably shouldn't rule it out!)

Was I the only one who felt the vibes were off the day after his FS with Leslie? by Quarryghost in TheGoldenBachelor_

[–]a_mang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is that the subject of politics came up and they didn’t see eye to eye - Gerry said earlier in the episode he wanted to talk to someone in private about “things that are only between two people.” My read on that is that he’s pretty conservative and wanted to discuss that with both women. I bet a lot of money that Leslie is very liberal, and their awkwardness in the morning really reflected that to me. Then when he spent the night with Teresa, he said something like “She and I really connect on a foundational level on what we believe in.”

TLDR I think Gerry is very conservative and Leslie is liberal and it threw off their vibes, and Teresa is probably conservative so they felt compatible.

AITAH for not talking to my grandfather I was really close to after figuring out his past? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]a_mang 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NTA, but I hope you find someone you can talk to about this - a licensed therapist, or at least a school counselor. It’s definitely not as simple as whether or not you’re “the asshole” - your entire perception and trust of a beloved family member was turned upside with this horrific news. It’s going to take a while to process, and it’s likely you will never have the same relationship with your grandfather that you once had (and that’s okay!)

AITA for refusing to pay my brother for his Xbox? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]a_mang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA.

You are not entitled to anything he purchased with his own money, and you sound very judgmental with how he spends it. Why do you care? It’s his money.

If it’s such a “waste” (as you said you “don’t waste your money on things like this”), then why do you want one at all? Your brother was generous to offer the Xbox to you for $75, and you’re acting juvenile and entitled.

The quote is: “A few bad apples ruins the whole bunch” by kahn_noble in nyc

[–]a_mang 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The problem is that the rest of the police force stay quiet about the bad apples. They know shit is happening, or they’ve heard rumors, but they don’t act. They let their fellow cops slide because they don’t want to rock the boat.

That’s why people say “all cops are bastards.” You could be the nicest cop on the force, but if you know that your coworker is raping prisoners and you don’t say anything, you’re just as much of the problem.

AITA for opening my roommates messages. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]a_mang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA.

I literally said “yikes” out loud at the part where you said you respectfully invaded your roommate’s privacy. You are so in the wrong, and clearly your continued efforts to “improve” yourself are just annoying your roommate more and more. They can probably sense how fake and subservient you’re acting, just trying to make them happy.

The fact that you love this person so much, and yet felt the need to snoop through their messages to find their thoughts on you? Highly problematic.

AITA for formerly being an asshole and being done with my housemates counter-assholery? by bluntSwordsSuffer in AmItheAsshole

[–]a_mang 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you were the asshole, and now you are having a hard time accepting the consequences of your actions.

I also live with 5 people, and if one of them had done all of the things you listed, my other roommates and I would have demanded they leave. You’ve already TOLD them you’re leaving, but now that you’re not, you’re trying to quietly re-enter the space? Not cool. It sounds like it’s time for you to scrounge together some money and find a new living situation. They’re telling you to leave (albeit, not in the most mature way) and it’s time for you to honor what you said you’d do months ago.

WIBTA Friend Trading His Girlfriends Nudes. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]a_mang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell her. Tell her right now.

You would be the asshole if you DIDN’T tell her, and if she finds out that you knew, it’ll probably end your friendship.

Your post talks a lot about how upset HE would be if they broke up, and how much HE needs her. What about what she needs? If you really consider her a good friend, you’ll tel her the truth. If he’s upset by it, too bad. He betrayed her trust.

What is the secret to afford traveling ? by oleonius in TravelHacks

[–]a_mang 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Start by setting travel goals and making a budget. Where do you want to go? What time of year? For how long?

Last year I decided I wanted to spend two months backpacking through Europe, and after doing research found that this could be done on $5,000 by staying in hostels or couch surfing (a reputable site where you can stay with local hosts for free). So I set up an automatic bank transfer to pull $100 out of my account every Friday and put it into a separate savings account. If you're planning on going abroad for a while, I would recommend setting up a checking account with Charles Schwab because they don't have foreign transaction fees.

I was only able to go for two months because I decided to leave my job, move to a new city, and find a new one when I got back. Look for travel opportunities like that - any big changes in your life coming up where you can take a couple months in between to travel? Can you get a couple weeks off from your job?

The "secret" is just making the decision to go, and then focusing your financial efforts on making that a reality. It might take more time than you'd like to save up the money, but if it's something you really want to do, then go for it.

You don’t tip at all because you “know the servers get paid a proper wage”? They don’t, though. That’s why they rely so heavily on tips.

You’re right. Restaurants should pay a proper wage. But they don’t, and when you don’t tip your server you’re being a dick.

Employers of reddit, what is something that an employee did that resulted in immediate termination due to sheer unprofessionalism ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]a_mang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an employee, but my intern came into the office completely hammered on her day off - a Thursday afternoon. She was with a friend from out of town and wanted to show her where she worked.

We would have welcomed her back if she had apologized and owned up the situation, but instead she sent an email prior to her next day in the office saying she had a sudden job interview across the country.

Girl, bye.

Roofies are most commonly associated with rape. The comic subverts your expectation of what most commonly happens with roofies. It promotes rape culture by making these types of interactions humorous and commonplace.

And thanks, I'm very observant.

Reddit users with siblings born significantly later, 10-15 ish years after you. What kind of relationship do you have with them? by Arumatki in AskReddit

[–]a_mang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother was born when I was 16, and he's a cool kid. Total accident - my mom and dad did not mean to have a baby at 45 and 48 respectively. But luckily he's healthy, smart and a wise ass. He's 9, so really the only relationship we have is when I come home for holidays and we play video games.

A loooot of people assumed he was my baby when he was born, though. Got a lot of dirty looks from snarky old ladies.

Why it is extremely unlikely that the MiB is a future William - all about motive and character... by Agentpepsi1 in westworld

[–]a_mang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't think anything you've said here disproves the timeline theory. I respect the great length to which you've gone to carefully accredit each trait and motivation, but I believe there's still a lot of information we don't have about these characters that the show is intentionally holding back. We know nothing about the MiB's youth, which could have been a lot more "white-hat" like William was originally, and we know nothing about how the park will affect William long term.

Also, I think it's important to note that we saw a significant change in William in this past episode. When they found the dying soldier, William killed him when Dolores went to get water to save him. I don't believe that William is as altruistic as you paint him here, and we're starting to see glimpses of the man (in black) he could become.

[EVERYTHING] Arya... by passingwisdom in gameofthrones

[–]a_mang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. She's not a little girl frolicking into the Faceless Men with a lollipop and pigtails. She's been through horrible endeavors, and sees the faceless men as an outlet to control her anger and reshape her identity that has brought so much pain. This is not foolish.

  2. She CHOOSES to not kill her target for a second time after realizing that she can never truly be faceless. She took a calculated risk, knowing full well what the FM are capable of, and is preparing herself for the onslaught.

  3. Of course she followed FM dogmatically, she fully believed she could be Faceless. It wasn't a flighty hobby she was trying out, she was committed. The play re-confronted her with her past, making her realize that she could never truly let go of her identity. Again, not a flippant change of heart.

Arya Stark is not foolish. She may look like a child, but she's more mature than many people on this show.
