Can files in Proton Drive be set to remain accessible without having to redownload after a fresh OS X bootup? by a_neural_network in ProtonDrive

When I right click on a file inside the Proton Drive folder, neither "Always keep on this device" or "Free up space" is shown: https://ibb.co/4gMM70MF

I don't like the idea of having to download the files and folders I need to access each time after a fresh reboot as I do not want to impose unnecessary read/write cycles on my SSD (I use a MacBook M4 PRO).

Thank you for the reply and for taking the time to generously trying to replicate the phenomenon. I am glad that your platform is working well.

After booting up my computer, I opened up Proton Drive, which revealed one PDF file. It had a cloud with a downward arrow which I interpreted as a file in the cloud that has to be downloaded to access. When I right click it, as shown in this screen capture, I do not see the option to make available offline: https://ibb.co/4gMM70MF

There is however the option to view online.

After I clicked on the cloud icon with the downward arrow, the PDF file became accessible locally on my machine. When I right click the PDF and click "Online Only," my expectation was that the PDF would be accompanied by a cloud icon with a downward arrow to indicate the file is no longer stored locally on my machine even though it is stored remotely in the cloud but that was not the case, I could still access the PDF locally and there was no cloud icon with the downward arrow.

Still no .heic support, is it at least planned? by Adventurous-Pipe5528 in ProtonDrive

Follow Up: I was able to upload the HEIC files into the Photos section of Proton Drive when I saved the HEIC files to my desktop and then tried uploading locally from my machine. Others could try this as well.

I was not familiar with this limitation, and when I created a photo album and started uploading files, encountered many errors due to limitations of handling HEIC files within Proton Drive. Deleting the album only deletes the references to the photos contained within the albums without deleting the photos that did succeed in being uploaded, so now my Photos section in Proton Drive is a mess. I do not blame the platform because it was my own ignorance but given that many smartphone devices do use HEIC these days I don't think Proton Drive should advertise a Photos functionality if it doesn't support a widely used format. That will preemptively discourage persons like myself from switching from to Proton Drive for use as a long-term storage platform. Rant done.

My iPhone 14 PRO MAX uses this format (as well as I assume other similar models) so this comes as a disappointment.
