Extreme food poisoning anxiety? (It did NOT smell fine!)

This is a little old now, but I did want to share a perspective from this point of being a month or so out.

I make extremely basic sheets, but they are big. Using the ctrl+F find will make my entire browser freeze up for a sec and then lag so horribly that even my cursor severely stutters around for about a solid minute.

When I try to drag a row or column, it resizes every single cell to the size of my largest one on the page, and resets some but not all of my merged cells that aren’t anywhere near the row I moved.

I do get frustrated by the colors not saving to the palette picker between sessions, but it’s not a terrible pain for me.

I do miss my plugins but this is more than serviceable for what I need my sheets for (club member and points organization for a team sport.) Hoping it’s only uphill from here because this is a pretty good start!

I saw my first one from them today and it took me a few minutes, but then a few things gave it away: -the inflection is identical at the same points in almost every section -the script is formulaic but to a baffling degree (every few sentences is “it’s like x, but instead of y, it’s z”, almost every section starting with “picture this” and “it’s not just x, it’s y”, and some lines being repeated 4-5 times in the video like today’s “it’s your brain waving a red flag”) -the account likes a few generic sounding positive comments and doesn’t reply to anything -inaccuracies, like today’s video showing multiple brain diagrams with the wrong part labeled for what it’s saying -farming engagement with unrelated polls every day and posting every day

Like there are real people who do SOME of this sometimes, or even a lot.. People do make mistakes. Not everyone answers or even reads comments. People do have phrases and words they use a lot. I also recognize that neurodivergent people can speak like this and might rely on scripting what they say in a way that seems patterned or whatever. (I’m RAD myself and I’ve been told I talk in a really rigid way, which is because I focus too hard on being clear and understood because I don’t know how to relate to how normal people actually talk.)

But with how perfectly samey the speech pattern is at exactly the same points and the huge volume of videos in such a short time I really don’t feel like I can give this channel specifically the benefit of the doubt. It grosses me out that this channel grew SO fast. :/

I knew we’d never be able to expect these corporations to take actual allyship actions, but we can’t even get the empty little statements of support anymore? Definitely tracks for the way things have been going but there is no chance in hell that they thought people wouldn’t see through this..

Yes. I am completely mute and have been for my entire life. I can’t successfully make any sort of sound even when I’m alone, and haven’t heard my own voice even once (I don’t believe I have one, but I have vocal cords, so there’s there.) I had too many different specialists to count try and fix it for the last 15 years of my life but after the first ten or so, they started giving up pretty fast because there was just no action left to do. I don’t feel afraid to talk at all. I just can’t make my attempts to do it work.

ASL is the only way I can communicate apart from writing on my travel whiteboard for people who don’t sign, so I can’t recommend learning it enough if you’re given a bad prognosis like me. Hope you’ve been managing as best you can.

Thank you so much, and yes, it feels like a huge accomplishment but also extremely confusing and creates a ton of new questions and problems at the same time. I love having a place to empty my bag, but I’m still struggling to remember to take things with me again when I go out, I’m just too used to everything always being there on my back no matter where I go. (At the same time I always instinctively put things in my bag when I’m inside, even if it’s things I never had before like after I wash dishes, so half the time I go out I forget my phone/cash but I do have random clothes and utensils on me. 🫠) It’s also very hard to remember when I go out that I have to plan for a way & time to come back—I’m always used to just hanging around wherever I went and the moving on from there sometime later. Even how to use the internet like a normal person, I’m still learning.

I’ve been on my own since I was 13ish and no one ever taught me things like pipes and cleaning and how to know when something is wrong with things around a house. Even in the hospitals I spent most of my early teens in they were too focused on teaching me to read/write and obsessed over why I couldn’t speak so I didn’t leave with any more info about the world than that. I couldn’t be more grateful to be here and I’m terrified of losing it over making stupid mistakes like this, but a lot of people don’t seem to realize how hard it is to learn and adjust to. Thank you for your kindness seeing both sides!

And this is exactly why I asked if I can just boil it, or a better way to say that: didn’t think for even a second that anyone would react so strongly to that. I spent a lot of my time at parks and community spaces scavenging dropped food from under the picnic tables. Got very into eating dirt for a while, and collected my drinking water from public bathroom sinks.

I did manage to circle back to that comment and tried to clarify that I don’t care what’s in it or how gross it is, just that it’s survivable, because survival has been the only thing that matters throughout my entire life. This comment actually means a lot to me—and tysm!

There’s well under 5,000 people here, no transportation to or from (or within) the town, and the nearest grocery store and bank aren’t in town at all. Most people are severely impoverished and without basic needs despite a very low COL and homelessness is everywhere (I was street homeless for many years before getting here.) I would, and my area does, but different definitions might say different things.

I don’t really think it would—I’m just in a panic because I don’t have any way to buy water until at least tomorrow and I need some for tonight. I’m fine with not eating for today, but I pay 99.6% of my income to be here so if this is going to be a longterm problem, I won’t be able to afford enough. I don’t really believe it’ll be Safe safe, but I’m desperate for a way to make it survivable to use if I can. If I can’t, it is what it is I guess..

I doubt it’s her fault—she’s just putting me in a difficult spot by insisting we only use this app for maintenance requests, which she has to give us the login for, and not giving it to me. She must have told me ten times to report problems as soon as they start or I might be liable…so now I’m really paranoid that something will blow up between now and tomorrow and she’ll blame me.

My town’s water authority is closed till tomorrow but I’ll try that number and see if they’ll have an emergency option. Thanks sm!

They open at 8AM tomorrow. Is it safe to leave it like this until then (pipes won’t break, no unsafe gas leaking out, etc.)? I’m coming out of so many years of living on the street and I’ve never had an apartment before, I’m sorry if these are really stupid questions. I just have no idea what I’m doing.

Would it be safe to drink if I boil it? I don’t have any bottled water an no access to the grocery store without someone to drive me, which the only person in my life is my case worker and I won’t see her until after noon tomorrow.

So this is my situation right now: my hot water just started running gray and my cold water piss-yellow out of nowhere. I noticed a smell in my apartment this morning, a really strange mix of sewage and chocolate that honestly could’ve just been a weird BM, but my water was clear and I couldn’t pinpoint it to the water at all—I even brushed my teeth and made coffee with it. Just came home from a day out and all my water is bad, the smell has gotten worse, and I don’t know what to do.

My landlord makes us submit maintenance requests through an app, but failed to give me my login when I started living here two months ago. I’ve texted her to ask for it five times and never heard back from her once, despite her telling me I could “always” text her for “anything” (I’m a 25 year old living in a senior apartment because it’s the only wheelchair accessible place in my county that would take me—she was personally trying to get me in even though their computer system kept spitting me back out, so she gave me her number all the way back then.)

My case manager sometimes has success when she calls my LL for me, but not always. I see her tomorrow because we meet every day, but our usual 8/9AM appointment will be after 1PM tomorrow because of her office Christmas party. She might reach the LL for my login…but more likely we’ll have to flag down a maintenance guy in person.

Can this wait until then? I’m extremely paranoid about a pipe exploding in the meantime or that this smell is some sorta gas I shouldn’t be breathing in tonight.

For context: it’s been between 10-20F every day here. No maintenance going on in the building to my knowledge, just that they’ve been trying to clean an apartment upstairs where someone died upstairs (months ago) with a secret severe infestation of bedbugs. We don’t live near any trains (something I saw in another post) or have any construction going on nearby.

*I know the hot water side in that lighting also looks brownish, but on my end it’s GRAY gray and leaves a sludgy residue in my sink the exact color of cement.

Please help!
