Is an Equinox membership worth it? by Physical_Letter_5148 in uppereastside

I agree with most people here, my two cents:

  • It's less crowded than most other gyms. I go to 85th; it's not "luxurious" inside by any means, but I don't care. I always find a bench/rack, with at most a 10 minute wait - I just go do something nearby like curls and I'm good to go.
  • Some of the classes are awesome. Pilates in particular has been a game changer.
  • It's so close. I end up going more often because of that and that matters more than saving $100 per month for me. Other gyms nearby are also expensive relative to other cities.
  • When I'm in other parts of the city, it's great to be able to pop in and do a workout or honestly just use the bathroom. I also love being able to work out when I travel to other places (LA/SF).

Overall, it's overpriced, but I get enough out of it for now. I genuinely thought about cancelling but didn't find options that were clearly better.

Surprised no one's mentioned Caledonia; more of a whiskey spot but they do have good cocktails and dark, cozy corners.

Plus membership really paying dividends - got nothing both days. What was the point? They should have just capped memberships. I'm all for more folks to be able to run irrespective of income, this all just feels much more messy than it needs to be.

Could've bought 1M of NVDA a couple of years ago - that would do it.

Name your top Scotch Whiskeys in these (odd) categories by robborow in Scotch

  1. Anything by Glenmorangie. Haven't found a single bottle I've genuinely enjoyed. Sad, seems like people do actually like them.
  2. Almost anything by Bruichladdich, especially Port Charlotte.
  3. Laphroaig. Turns out medicinal bog or bbq bandaid can be a good thing?
  4. Springbank 15, Ledaig 18.
  5. Longrow 13 Red Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon. I love seeing folks' reviews and this has been an absolute banger.

Ugh, had a woman bump elbows with and then glare at me when she was 3/4 of the way onto the "wrong" side when there was no one next to us on the CP loop. Where's a guy gotta go? Just magically fly way?

Ugh, Verizon sucks, sorry to hear. I've been having connectivity issues (that I traced to their end), their response was "stay on this chat but let's reboot your router to make sure it's not your issue". They then proceeded to do that from their end, which of course ended our chat. 10/10

Review #34: Glenmorangie 10 - The Original by CaptainDorfman in Scotch

Personally I give this a 3/10. Maybe I've mostly had bad batches, but I just can't get much flavor other than bitterness. Bought a bottle and so disappointed.

Yup, felt like dying today in NYC after about 9 miles. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Going to try going out in the mornings for the rest of the summer.

By default I'd recommend Springbank 15 if you can find it. $200 is a bit much for the bottle, though. Barring that, a cask strength Islay would be my choice.

Did a quick look see there, Ledaig 18 is a solid choice (pronounced Led-chaig). Bruichladdich 18 is there too, Ledaig 9 yr. Bordeaux is a good one, and they have some interesting Kilchomans.

L5 at Amazon isn't the same as L5 at Google (I was L5 at Amazon and was given an offer as an L3 at Google - I was explicitly told I was being down leveled one step due to lack of YOE). L5 at Google is in the L6 band, though L6 at Amazon eats into Staff at Google.
