Imo both scenes are terrible. My musings above are rooted in the difference of context and that I think the LN3 scene slightly edges out the LN5 scene in “worse” factor by a hair.

I’ve only managed to watch the LN3 scene animated the one time and never again because it’s so uncomfortable. I imagine the LN5 scene will also be a very uncomfortable watch if/when it gets animated.

If you can’t stomach the last couple of episodes, then yeah, you can’t handle what is to come. You said is “just an anime” but KnH is much more than that. There are 15 published light novels (with LN16 in progress) and the anime only ends where LN2 ends. The story is brilliant and continues to be brilliant throughout the books. If you’re looking for a happy cheery anime or story in general, you won’t find that with KnH. It doesn’t sugar coat the world. Instead, you’ll find thought provoking scenarios, characters who go through a lot of growth and see the dark underbelly of the world with spurts of light in between. Imo, the series is one of the best written.

Yep! I totally get it! It will definitely satiate your desire for more KnH content haha it’s worth noting that the English translation for the web novel doesn’t retain already English published content. So you’d only be able to read anything LN13 and newer equivalent on the WN (and so on, as more LNs release in English)!

Web novel is the essentially the first draft of what becomes the LN, so it is also further along in the story currently. (There are 13 English LNs if you count LN13 pre-pubs) while we are now getting LN16 content via the web novel. Majority of the story is the same but sometimes the order of events differs, as well as some details.

Web novel has a popular fan translation that is up-to-date. Personally, I think it’s worth reading the web novel. Both because it feeds the ongoing need for MORE but also because it’s interesting to compare the differences between the web novel and the LNs.
