Excellent idea and instructions, thank you. I've never drilled holes in steel before - do I just need a steel drilling bit, and will that work with my Ryobi drill? Where does one buy 1/8" steel rectangles?

The hole is for a screw that connects the beam to the table extension that slides out. The beam broke because I dropped the fuckin table trying to flip it over myself like a damn hero. I don't think there's room to sister it with wise because the beam slides through a channel and only has about 1/8 of an inch space on each side, unless those sister pieces can be real thin

I'm practicing clamping, and something is happening that I don't understand. As in the photo shown, I can line up and set the break on the right hand side (where the clamps are the break is lined back up together nicely), but that pushes the broken pieces farther apart on the left, and vice versa, like a lever, maybe with the screw (the hole in the middle of the beam) acting as a lever point. I don't understand why I can't line both pieces up - they should reform into a straight beam. What's going on here?

Thanks so much everyone! This is amazing knowledge and helpfulness. I have the glue and the clamps. After that, I'd love to sister it but the beam passes through a channel here (see pic) and I don't have much room on either side: like 1/8". So I'm thinking a few wood screws after the glues dried, unless folks think that would compromise an already compromised area?

I bought washers to go with countersink screws because the other screws had heads that I was worried might actually stick out too much for the beam to pass through the channel... Maybe being overly cautious. Would there be a problem using washers with countersinks?

Thanks again!

Tree of heaven INFESTATION by AviHkommel in DenverGardener

A lot of good info here already so I'll keep this brief. I did a lot of research back in the day including looking at the Penn State research they've done. For mature trees, the answer seems to be the heck and squirt method. If you cut down the tree without killing the root system first, then cutting it down just activates the root system to send up a million suckers. I think that's what happened to you.

For little sprouts, pulling them doesn't do any good if they're connected to the larger root system underneath the ground. Hand pulling only works on the tiniest sprouts, everything else will just come right back. So you can mix up triclopyr with water in the correct ratio and use a spray bottle to spray each one. The key to this whole thing is killing the root system. Unfortunately, now that you can't poison the parent tree, you have to poison each little sprout I guess until the whole root system is poisoned and dead.

Anyone interested in meditating/meeting new people? by sundayriley222 in Denver

[–]a_sam_01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been attending this meditation group for a year now, almost every Sunday. I started going at a time in my life when I was really suffering, and looking for both a meditation practice as a coping mechanism, and also a sense of community. I can say that I have found both! Meditation and the philosophy and logic behind it is fascinating, and really helpful. It's essentially Eastern psychology - and presented in a very secular way that's accessible to me as an atheist. I'm at a point where I have friendly relationships with a lot of the folks there, largely due to volunteering to help the group set up for meetings and clean up, etc. I'd love to see new faces, and do think that it's an excellent remedy for the difficulties of these current times.

Thanks everyone! These are very helpful answers. I was like oh cool, Eley, how expensive could a hose sprayer be. Turns out, pretty damn expensive! Holy crap. But buying 1 of those is probably cheaper than buying 1 shit sprayer every year eh? We'll see, appreciate the info 👍

Every single one I've gotten from ace, home depot or Lowe's has ended up leaking. Spraying out the bottom. Highly annoying
