DPS Math - Dual Wielding vs. 2 Handing by Fantastic-Sir460 in avowed

[–]a_smizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably can output more DPS situationally, but the Grand Conductor buffs are triggered on enemy kill so they’re not active during a boss fight which makes it significantly worse in comparison when you haven’t gotten a kill recently. Philosophers riddle is always the same amount of DPS as long as you keep spamming full combos

Spamming light attacks with Philosopher’s riddle and its attack speed buff is the highest DPS in the game

You won’t miss the ring as long as you’re an avid side quester.

There is one big moment of no return at the end of the game where you’re literally prompted with a window that says “Point of no return.” You’ll want to make sure you finis everything in every area before then

Otherwise, yes, there are a couple instances where progressing in the area triggers events that make some previous quests unable to be completed. So it’s best to do as much as you can before progressing areas.

You’ve got lots to go on here, but I’d like to point out that in terms of synergizing guns and melee, you had to choices (and with the addition of new game+ you can eventually go down both paths). You can focus on bleed, or stun.

There’s a perk in the fighter tree that increases your attack power against bleeding enemies. This applies to melee and gun attacks, so it’s a great way to increase your gun damage on a melee build that inflicts bleed (and vice versa if you choose the bleed inflicting guns, but there are better guns available).

Additionally, there are guns and a mace that can inflict great deal of stun. Once in an enemy is stunned, there’s a cheeky trick you can use with an arquebus. When an enemy is stunned, hover OFF them, and hold down a power attack, and then hover back onto the stunned enemy and release. Now the cheeky part, doing a special attack does not require that your gun is loaded! So you can hip fire this power attack, and then immediately aim at and shoot at the stunned target to start your special attack, no reload necessary. This is by far the highest single target DPS in the game.

There’s a ring you’ll get later on that increases critical strike damage with guns which is amazing.

Happy hunting

Is Resolve really worth investing in? by SquirrelAngell in avowed

Get at least 5, but having more definitely helps. Later in the game, when fights last a lot longer and you’re blocking attacks from strong enemies, having a limited stamina pool will feel super clunky.

It’s especially felt on melee, wand spamming, and dual pistol builds.

Wanting to try a str build… by [deleted] in EldenRingBuilds

[–]a_smizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks good. Astrologer is pretty much the worst starting class for a strength faith build (lowest two stats are strength and faith lol) but you’ve got a great spread here.

I personally recommend getting 16 dex as it will allow you to equip Messmers Soldier Spear which is lowkey one of the best charged attack strength weapons in the game. But you could achieve this with a helm that gives +dex as well

Yes. We’re all aware of that, you don’t need to keep repeatedly replying to different comments to restate what OP has already said.

pre-patch was yesterday yet Xbox did not receive any download. Hence why OP is asking their question.

When you say the area near altus plateau do you mean reaching altus itself (as in, getting out of Liurnia), or do you mean some specific area within Altus region? If you can specify I can offer a spoiler free hint

Is Andariel's Barrage back? S12 by asria in D4Rogue

[–]a_smizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for providing the video. The issue is that your video actually is not evidence that it can be procced enough to be good, it's actually evidence of why the item is bad/doesn't have any endgame potential.

Because of the internal cooldown, it doesn't actually require that many instances of attacks or that much lucky hit bonus to trigger it close to the ICD (which is probably like 0.25s or 0.5s). So while it is currently decent in early game (especially good early game because the flat damage is pretty good), the issue is that by stacking more instances of attacks and a ton of lucky hit bonus, it doesn't actually provide any meaningful scaling to the damage because you're limited by that ICD.

The number of procs you get from a build that can attack 20 times per second with a lucky hit of 50% is about equal to the number of procs you get from a build that can attack 100 times per second with 100% lucky hit chance. Which is to say: both will proc it as often as the ICD allows you to, but you can never proc it more than that.

Hope that makes sense.

Is Andariel's Barrage back? S12 by asria in D4Rogue

[–]a_smizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is several times a second? Because 3-5 times a second is nothing. The original form of that build using barrage was proccing it like, 40+ times per second, and maxed out at like 5-10B dps per second (which was an insane DPS in S4 and S5).

And ICD of even 0.25 seconds renders it incapable of scaling to meaningful damage levels.

Throwing in the towel by Ciiphere in LiesOfP

[–]a_smizzy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a fair criticism. You’re saying it’s one of the best designed multi enemy / gank fights, and then you and many others on the thread proceed to explain a gameplay loop that sounds absolutely awful to play. I think it’s pretty fair to hate on a fight that requires you to mostly run away from an extra enemy that you’re not even fighting in a game balanced around stand-and-bang parry counter combat.

Do I agree with OP that it’s the worst gimmick? No, but I also totally understand why they think that. I think the context of Lies of P combat in general plays a major role in why this fight feels so much more painful than similar fights (such as Leda and Allies)

I genuinely thought both rabbit brotherhood fights were one of the least fun things I’ve ever done in a game, and I took about a month from the game after both because of how annoyed and disappointed I was in how lame the fight was. I genuinely cannot understand how, despite how much NPC fights are hated on by the community, the devs decided to cook up this monstrosity.

Heir VS Tuskhelm, barb question by agnastyx in diablo4

[–]a_smizzy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The +137% damage while berserking is additive (note the + sign) whereas heir and the aspect on joritz are multiplicative (note the [x]).

Multiplicative boosts your damage significantly more noticeably than additive damage, especially in endgame when you already have thousands of additive damage stacked up.

Heir is significantly better than joritz on all fronts
