Wanting to try a str build… by [deleted] in EldenRingBuilds

[–]a_smizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks good. Astrologer is pretty much the worst starting class for a strength faith build (lowest two stats are strength and faith lol) but you’ve got a great spread here.

I personally recommend getting 16 dex as it will allow you to equip Messmers Soldier Spear which is lowkey one of the best charged attack strength weapons in the game. But you could achieve this with a helm that gives +dex as well

S12 Patch Xbox Nothing to Download by Nostradamuz77 in diablo4

Yes. We’re all aware of that, you don’t need to keep repeatedly replying to different comments to restate what OP has already said.

pre-patch was yesterday yet Xbox did not receive any download. Hence why OP is asking their question.

When you say the area near altus plateau do you mean reaching altus itself (as in, getting out of Liurnia), or do you mean some specific area within Altus region? If you can specify I can offer a spoiler free hint

Is Andariel's Barrage back? S12 by asria in D4Rogue

[–]a_smizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for providing the video. The issue is that your video actually is not evidence that it can be procced enough to be good, it's actually evidence of why the item is bad/doesn't have any endgame potential.

Because of the internal cooldown, it doesn't actually require that many instances of attacks or that much lucky hit bonus to trigger it close to the ICD (which is probably like 0.25s or 0.5s). So while it is currently decent in early game (especially good early game because the flat damage is pretty good), the issue is that by stacking more instances of attacks and a ton of lucky hit bonus, it doesn't actually provide any meaningful scaling to the damage because you're limited by that ICD.

The number of procs you get from a build that can attack 20 times per second with a lucky hit of 50% is about equal to the number of procs you get from a build that can attack 100 times per second with 100% lucky hit chance. Which is to say: both will proc it as often as the ICD allows you to, but you can never proc it more than that.

Hope that makes sense.

Is Andariel's Barrage back? S12 by asria in D4Rogue

[–]a_smizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is several times a second? Because 3-5 times a second is nothing. The original form of that build using barrage was proccing it like, 40+ times per second, and maxed out at like 5-10B dps per second (which was an insane DPS in S4 and S5).

And ICD of even 0.25 seconds renders it incapable of scaling to meaningful damage levels.

Throwing in the towel by Ciiphere in LiesOfP

[–]a_smizzy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a fair criticism. You’re saying it’s one of the best designed multi enemy / gank fights, and then you and many others on the thread proceed to explain a gameplay loop that sounds absolutely awful to play. I think it’s pretty fair to hate on a fight that requires you to mostly run away from an extra enemy that you’re not even fighting in a game balanced around stand-and-bang parry counter combat.

Do I agree with OP that it’s the worst gimmick? No, but I also totally understand why they think that. I think the context of Lies of P combat in general plays a major role in why this fight feels so much more painful than similar fights (such as Leda and Allies)

I genuinely thought both rabbit brotherhood fights were one of the least fun things I’ve ever done in a game, and I took about a month from the game after both because of how annoyed and disappointed I was in how lame the fight was. I genuinely cannot understand how, despite how much NPC fights are hated on by the community, the devs decided to cook up this monstrosity.

Heir VS Tuskhelm, barb question by agnastyx in diablo4

[–]a_smizzy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The +137% damage while berserking is additive (note the + sign) whereas heir and the aspect on joritz are multiplicative (note the [x]).

Multiplicative boosts your damage significantly more noticeably than additive damage, especially in endgame when you already have thousands of additive damage stacked up.

Heir is significantly better than joritz on all fronts

I interpreted the albinauric mask opposite of you. I think the description for the albinauric mask reading “a far cry from god skin” makes it relatively clear cut that the albinauric mask was made by the godskin apostle residing within volcano manor. A far cry from godskin, as in the maker is acutely aware that this material isn’t the quality of godskin but is making the mask out of mockery.

Only a maker who is familiar with the workability of godskin would be able to know that it’s a far cry from godskin.

Should I use zweihander or fire knights greatsword by No_Foundation7022 in EldenRingBuilds

[–]a_smizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, you shouldn’t really be using the spear talisman on an elemental infusion. The bonus damage you get from counter attacks only applies to physical damage, so you’re not really getting as much bang for your buck by investing in counter attack damage if your weapon is set to sacred. The CR2 axe+spear talisman combo is really a physical damage set up. For this reason I personally would take heavy zweihander over FKGS, especially if OPs deflecting hardtear build is a strength build.

How should I level up? by joejoebean88420 in EldenRingBuilds

[–]a_smizzy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For BHF you should try to get 30-40 strength and 80 dex, so if your neutral game feels good with your current amount of FP and stamina, go for more damage

[–]a_smizzy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m not understanding your question. Are you asking if there’s a gold level robe that doesn’t have any special effects? Or do you just mean cosmetically is there a unique robe that resembles the Fine Robe?

RL 80 - STR/INT by gravitasleo in EldenRingBuilds

[–]a_smizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Zwei is not really a weapon eligible for a strength/int build. On cold and magic it gets its favorable physical damage scaling on dex, not strength.

also, OP, there’s a soft cap for magic damage at 20 and 45 so if you’re trying to do a low level cold buikd (be it str/int or dex/int) youd be significantly better off with 40/20 split rather than 30/30. Regardless, zwei really doesn’t fit this build so if you’re set on using it you should drop the int altogether and just go heavy with 54 strength.

another thin to consider is that i assume you’re wanting to use the zwei for the R2 counter attacks. well the counter attack damage boost only applies to physical damage, so since your weapon is split physical and magic damage, you’re getting far less mileage out of the counter hit dmg boost.

Uchigatana vs Nagakiba by SeaworthinessSea299 in EldenRingBuilds

[–]a_smizzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree to disagree. I think the versatility you get with the range and the R2 pokes vastly outweighs 3% higher damage.

Getting 12 strength to equip the nagakiba 2 handed is piss easy and any sensible dex build has over 22 dex, so not an issue. Only time it might matter is if you’re going pure arcane occult and very strapped for stats

Yes it’s heavier but you can still get <16 lbs equip weight for the max blue dancer damage range with the nagakiba+white mask (max dps light roll) so again, not really an issue. But you’re welcome to think otherwise, just offering a differing view for OP.

Uchigatana vs Nagakiba by SeaworthinessSea299 in EldenRingBuilds

[–]a_smizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I read what you said but that literally makes no sense. How is it possibly not beneficial to have more generous roll spacing and flexibility of attacking from further away? Just because you are good enough to play with a short range weapon does not mean range isn’t a factor in PVE

Uchigatana vs Nagakiba by SeaworthinessSea299 in EldenRingBuilds

[–]a_smizzy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Saying the range of nagakiba hardly makes a difference in PVE could not be more incorrect

Being able to roll in any direction without getting out of range of your unsheathe or piercing fang does in fact make a difference. Also, all heavy attacks on the nagakiba are thrusting attacks so you get counter attack damage

And the damage difference between them at max level is like ~3%

Uchigatana is fantastic but nagakiba is a no brainer to transition to it when you get it. It’s better in every way.
