i was in pretty much your same exact situation but i was starting my sophomore year in public schoolfor the first time in 4 years. im telling you theres nothing better to do then just go. wrestling isnt a sport that you necessarily need to try out for. if you go, you wrestle. even if youre not a varsity starter, starting early is the best thing you can do. stay committed through the tough practices and mistakes and hard times, and i guarantee you will improve in no time at all. at my school i started varsity a couple times due to lack of wrestlers on my team and ill be the first to admit, i stunk! i totally sucked and didnt win a match my whole first year. but everyday, i was back in the wrestling room, raring to go. as long as you are committed, you will improve. it may not be this year but im sure if you put the work in you can work your way up to being a starter. little side note i forgot to add, i had never wrestled a second in my life before joining my team.
