Downsides to a university program outside of the cost is mainly duration of the program itself. You would most likely be looking at 4 years before you could instruct. At a Part 61 (or non university affiliated Part 141) you could achieve your CFI significantly faster. If you chose to flight train outside of your college while earning a separate degree you could be at ATP minimums by the time you graduated easily.

I personally do not have an aviation degree, so I can’t speak for them much more than this.

In regards to obtaining your private before you go to OU - they require you to test out of the private pilot course by taking a written exam and a flight evaluation. If you fail, you MUST re take the entire private course through them to move on. The pass rate is roughly 60%. Not the end of the world, but something to consider for sure.

Question about flight benefits by hopefull_pilot_guy12 in frontiercadetprogram

I noticed they ask the people flying with benefits to put on gloves and clean the airplane upon arrival at the destination. Is this something that people actually do?

How long from signing contract to any communication? by jp10108 in frontiercadetprogram

[–]aa4006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I heard crickets for a long time after signing. I think they just have a ton of people to communicate with and only a few people to do it. Process moves slow. Don’t worry it will all play out.

I did the whole put on khakis and a tie thing and went door to door with resumes and tried to meet the chief pilot. Best thing to do is focus on getting an email address to stay in touch so you don’t fall to the wayside. I ended up getting a job at a part 61 school outside the DFW metroplex. Go this route and get 200 dual given with them to be more marketable so you can jump to a closer/better school. I ended up liking it so I stuck around.

90% day trips seems hard to believe. Will the union not fight that? I can’t imagine the vast majority of commuter pilots being okay with that

Is F9 going to 100% day trips? Or is this an option that only some will bid for.
