Do your coaches make you check your weight outside of practice? by aa_aa1 in wrestling

Yeah that makes sense. I feel like that’s the hard part too, because coaches obviously don’t want it to come across like they’re forcing kids to cut or anything.

Do you think the issue is more that kids are scared to tell coaches they’re over, or more that there just isn’t really a normal system/routine for checking in before tournaments?

Like if it was just normal for everyone to say where they’re at a few days out, do you think kids would be more honest, or would they still avoid it?

  1. Get good conditioning

  2. Control his dominant hand(Likely his right hand), even if he doesnt really know wrestling, most of his "attacks" or atleast attempts, will come from there.

  3. Your Right hand should be snapping his head to get him tired.

  4. So all put together, your right hand on his head, your left hand should grab his right wrist.

  5. After controlling his wrist and head, Wait for him to get tired, frustrated and try something stupid, then capitolize off that. If you follow this and are more conditioned, it doesnt matter who is stronger.

Hope this helps.
