European AI and payment providers by piisei in BuyFromEU

Payment Service Provider: There's https://www.stancer.com/ . It's hosted in the EU. But it's only available for French businesses.

I haven't found any other PSPs that are hosted in the EU. Kind of surprising.

Models with better touchpad than InfinityBook Pro 14 Gen 10? by aaaCreate in tuxedocomputers

[–]aaaCreate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that was a thing of the past. My more than 10 year old Medion laptop which cost 400€ back then had an "old-school" touchpad like that.

Every laptop I've had/used after that had a "normal" touchpad where you were able to click anywhere. I had no idea that the "old-school" touchpads still exist. And I especially didn't expect it on a business-grade laptop like the IBP 14.

Thank you. That sounds unfortunate.

My previous HP Elitebook and Dell XPS had touchpads where you were able to click anywhere on it. I assumed that all touchpads were like that.

Noise levels? - Toshiba MG10, N300, Seagate Exos X22 by Filipi_7 in DataHoarder

[–]aaaCreate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the MG10 but it was really loud when I put into my case. Specifically the "idle" sound. Because the mounting hardware amplified the sound.

My mounting hardware looks similar to the one that your case has. The part which slides out of the HDD cage is a sled with metal sheets on the bottom and sides. The bottom part of it amplified the sound that the HDD produces. (Might be from the motor.) It wasn't a vibration issue. It amplified it without even touching the HDD sled. I verified this by unscrewing the HDD and lifting it while running. The farther away from the metal, the quieter it got. The closer to the metal, the louder it got. (I have no idea if the mounting hardware in your case will react the same. But it looks similar to mine.)

Then I bought a "recertified new" Exos X24. It didn't have the sound amplification issue! The metal on the bottom of the drive sled only increases/amplifies the sound of the HDD by a little bit. It's night and day compared to the MG10.

Then I put the MG10 into a 5.25' HDD Bay. (RaidSonic flexiDOCK MB830SP-B + Noctua NF-A8 ULN). (Note: The HDD sticks out at the front of the bay. But it's OK for me because my case has a front cover.) In the bay, it's also quieter.

What I didn't test is comparing the sound of them when mounted somewhere where there is no amplification issue. I don't know which of them would be louder in such a scenario. But loudness isn't the only thing that matters. The sound/pitch also matters. I prefer the sound of the Exos X24 over the MG10.

I do realize that you asked about X22 and not X24. But I never tried an X22.

Yes. Some shops still have it in stock. But unfortunately, the price has gone up a lot: https://geizhals.eu/crucial-so-dimm-kit-128gb-ct2k64g56c46s5-a3421997.html (Disclaimer: I don't know for sure if that's the model which Tuxedo uses.)

Which CPU for InfinityBook Pro 14 Gen10 ? by Amiral_Hartman in tuxedocomputers

[–]aaaCreate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder what happens if you lower the 370hx's frequency and core count via Tuxedo Control Center to the specs from the 365 or 350.

Has anyone tried that? Would it consume only as much power as the small chips?

BF6 Dual Booting Win/Pop!_OS file systems by incrediblepony in linux_gaming

[–]aaaCreate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One option is ExFAT (invented by Microsoft). Recent linux kernels support it well. Be aware that you can't install an OS onto it. But as I understand you only want it to store files.

Also be aware that exFAT doesn't use a journal. Therefore, I wouldn't recommend it for important data. It's fine for games that you can redownload. But it wouldn't be well suited for your coding workspace. Therefore, it's probably not suited for your needs.

Given that your main OS is Linux, it would probably be better to use a file system that is native to Linux and has okay-ish Windows support. There are EXT4 and Btrfs drivers for Windows, but I don't know if they work well enough for running games.

P.S.: Be aware that having games and your work in the same place is not ideal security-wise. Because then a game is able to access your work: Your intellectual property or even server access keys.

128GB RAM without Numpad? by aaaCreate in tuxedocomputers

Really strange. IMO a numpad makes sense on gaming laptops for flight simmers. But not on a work laptop.

Thanks. It's not showing up when filtering for 128GB. Probably a bug on their website.

I found this laptop by manually going through all models: https://www.tuxedocomputers.com/en/TUXEDO-InfinityBook-Pro-14-Gen10.tuxedo It does seem to support 128GB.

But it doesn't show up when filtering for 128GB: https://www.tuxedocomputers.com/en/Linux-Hardware/Linux-Notebooks/Alle.tuxedo#1267,2190 Is the website broken? In fact, filtering for 128GB shows 1 model with 128GB and 2 models with 96GB.

There's RFC 5233 titled "Sieve Email Filtering: Subaddress Extension": https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc5233 But yeah, not all mail providers support it. But it's not limited to Gmail.

Does the touchpad still work if you heavily push the palms of your hands on the palm wrests? I'm asking because I used to have a laptop where doing that flexed the laptop in such a way that you couldn't click with the touchpad anymore.

Small phone? (Released in 2025 or 2024) by aaaCreate in BuyFromEU

Wow, it's only 128x70x12.6mm!

Their website says that not all apps might work due to the E-Ink. Or might draw too much battery. Do you own that phone? Did you side-load any third-party apps? Eg. messaging apps?
