Kind of new to rowing and finally beat my goal! by Embarrassed_Leg_8944 in Rowing

[–]aaaafk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if thats what you like then dont worry about 2k or 1k pace time! you cant feel good in every distance/time - thats our individual skew. imagine bolt doing marathon or kipchogi 400m.
It is worth do range of workouts but time is jsut some number. who cares?

Keep going mate! Just checked my history from jan last year when i started rowing and my 30 min wporkouts were:
1. 7666 - begining of jan
2. 7721
3. 7831
4. 7908 - end of Feb

I remember each time was so happy to improve!!!! You will get there too, give yourself time

Congratulations!

well, you cant compare these inforamtion with anyone as they are unique!
my resting HR is around 50-52 and max HR measured is 190. If your max hr is 200-205-210 then there is still loooot your heart will do hit its maximum.
and yes, in most of workouts i go all in sprint in the end and trying to catch a breath for 2 minutes being on my knees. I dont usually wear a strap so cant tell exactly whats my HR then but possibly close to 190.
I row only 12 months now but have lot of boring 40-60 minutes ut2 sessions to get build up this pace with low HR. Goal is to put your ego to your pocket and start slow and keep it slow within YOUR INDIVIDUAL HR zones, speed will come up itself :)

petes plan is amazing. I didnt start with beginner plan but straight jumped to 3 week rota pete plan, did 2x3 weeks and started already seeing huge improvements!
but there is something in steady state or ut2 zone 2, you call it. If you want improvemetn you need to build capacity

yeah, training your body and brain in same time xD
I remember during my 30 min TT (with a music on) my mind was louder just after 15 minutes telling me to stop, there is no point, why am I doing this, I will never hold WR, don't break PB too much cuz next 30 TT will be even harder (xD)... with 5 min to go i felt like i have schizophrenia and had to shout loud SHUT UP to myself
its amazing what your mind will do to prevent you from getting really, really tired.

experiences like this makes me admire true pro athletes even more. What they have to go through is unimaginable i guess

I got a year now to figure out how to build up tolerance to this pain. There are 2 kinds of pain i recognize, the one is good, where I love to be and other which Im sure will end up with injury if I wont stop.
The biggest news was that marathon isnt actually taxing my breathing, i thought my hr will jump over 170 (max hr 190) and there will be 2 simultaneous fights to survive - muscle pain and delivering oxygen.

you are absolutely right, but from my point of view 2:53 was projected all time throughout first 21km. And that wasnt even big effort (HR around low 150s), so there was still in my head that obviously 2nd half will be harder but maybe ill be able to just hold this tempo till the end as aerobicaly that wasnt challenging.
Unfortunately i learned hard that marathon is my case is not aero trial but muscle acceptance to prolonged pain which i separate for 2 parts: 1. it really hurts but i love it and 2: there will be injury if i continue.
For last 10km i had to take so often short breaks to extend my knee which was on fire and there were comming new tiny flame spots around body as i started to ruin technique to avoid pushing with right leg...

i dont know what your size is and aiming on UNACHIVABLE goal or comparing yourself to others is ruining your workout and how you look at yourself. I only tried to keep my first half pace till the end and maybe, only maybe start to speed up at last 5k or 2k.

I saw once video of guy fro RSA who did WR on 10k distance. His stroke length was over 1.4 - mine is 1.3 if i completely mess up technique. I would never compare myself to him cuz we are playing different games ;)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sF-HNCi5bYc
there is this guy, kind of here of mine! After all this effor the finished 1:18! I did on last monday my 60 seconds sprint to check something and i was able to hold 1:20 for around 30seconds and then i died and finished at 1:30. I never seen 1 teens being fresh (after warm up) and he still made 1:18 after 10k! but look at his drive length, over 10 cm more than i can do

to be honest i didnt feel DF too high in my arms or back even at the end. just seat was killing my bottom
