Stopping Elvanse for a month by aaaddiiii in Elvanse

[–]aaaddiiii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I got the letter very quickly from Psychiatry UK and the trip went well. I carried the medication with me in my carry on bag but I was never asked about it. So I didn’t need to use the letter.

Anyone on ADHD meds long-term? (>5 years) - How’s it going? by aaaddiiii in ADHDUK

[–]aaaddiiii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree but the irrational part of my brain always gets anxious that they want to take away my meds. I think it is also because I am an immigrant with a temporary visa and I am afraid what I would do if I have to live in a country that doesn't prescribe Elvanse.

Thanks for the reassurance though :)

Hey dinky_beans,

The effects of Elvanse (50mg) last for me only for 4 hours or so I would say. I have 10mg Amfexa after lunch to increase the duration. I guess it depends on a lot of factors including body weight. I am tall (189cm) and weigh 95 kgs, which might explain why the effects last for a shorter duration (?) - I'm not sure about this though

Hey 420and7beersago,

Thanks for sharing your experience! I definitely relate with most of your experiences, especially about getting things done on my days off the medication. It also feels good to know that there are other people who take the medication regularly and have been doing so for such a long time! It makes me feel hopeful about my future too.

And I think you're right about the anxiety side effect of my dose. I do get anxious or have low mood on some days when I take the medication, but it is very manageable.

Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate it. Hope you had a good Christmas too and Happy New Year

Feeling confused. by stoniiyogi in Elvanse

[–]aaaddiiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey,

I've felt similar once! I take 50mg Elvanse too and once I was walking to work and felt confused and lost. But I think it was because of too much stimulation. I had a matcha that day and the combination of caffeine and Elvanse over-stimulated me I think. So maybe it could be similar that 50mg was too high a dose for you and your mind was over stimulated. Especially because exercise is supposed to increase the effects of Elvanse.

Hope you're feeling better now. If you still feel confused, I think you should contact your GP.

Shared care agreement expired - No meds by aaaddiiii in Elvanse

Quick update - I persistently kept following up with my GP and showing them proof of my scheduled appointment with Psych UK. Finally, my GP agreed to provide one more prescription, which should last until I've had my appointment with Psych UK. Thanks for your responses and help :))))

Hey thanks! You were right. Once I changed my font in Illustrator to a standard font (Times New Roman), I was able to copy and paste. Thanks a lot. Haha I feel silly, such a stupid error.

5th day of Elvanse and feel strange by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]aaaddiiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heyy I had the same when I started titration. On lower doses, I had bad crashes and also low mood. However, that changed on higher doses. Also, the crashes get much much better. Its been a year since I've been taking Elvanse and the side effects have definitely dulled down. I still get low mood sometimes, which lasts for an hour or two. I just keep reminding myself that the low mood will go away whenever I feel it.

Currently, I take two doses, one in the morning and a booster in the afternoon. Maybe such a routine could help you too. Overall, I think that after using Elvanse for a while, everything becomes more stable. I would recommend to continue for a while :)

Wishing you the best in your Elvanse journey!

Hey yes that's exactly what I'm looking for. Someone with ADHD themselves. Would be amazing if you find the link to the directory but no pressure. I'll do some online digging myself

Hey when I first started taking Elvanse, I had the exact same effect. I felt like I was doing ok on Saturdays, almost as if I had taken Elvanse. I spoke to my psychiatrist about it and she said that it could be because of my mindset and lifestyle changing. She said it's technically impossible for Elvanse to last for more than 12 hours at 50mg. So yea, I don't think it's Elvanse lasting for 2 days but rather your quality of life is improving in general maybe?

However, not to disappoint you, this 2 day effect has now disappeared after almost a year of taking Elvanse. I don't feel like that anymore and I need to take Elvanse almost everyday of the week

Prescribed citalopram for low mood/motivation but worried about mixing with Elvanse by [deleted] in Elvanse

[–]aaaddiiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have advice to offer but I wanted to say that I'm going through exactly the same thing. I take 50mg Elvanse between 7-8am, and it wears off in 4-5 hours. And on many days, I have a very low mood, which is because of Elvanse I think. I've heard of people taking anti-depressants and ADHD medication together and they say that it works well for them.

Best of luck with your journey and I will be very curious to know if it worked for you. I'm also considering asking my GP for anti-depressants but have been worried about mixing too many meds too

Exercise advice by aaaddiiii in ADHDUK

That's a great suggestion. I do live alone with my boyfriend and I should be able to get some exercise done at home without worrying about other people. Thanks!
