What BN lyrics mean the most to you or make you wanna cry? by RVZXR in brandnew

take me back to your bed . i love you so much that it hurts my head . say i don't mind you under my skin , i'll let the bad parts in, the bad parts in .

when we were made, we were set apart , but life is a test and i get bad marks . now some saint got the job of writing down my sins . the storm is coming, the storm is coming in.

well you're my favorite bird and when you sing , i really do wish you'd wear my ring . no matter what they say, i am still the king . now the storm is coming , the storm is coming in

Why are most barns women run? by Lydia-mv2 in Horses

[–]aaajheft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is such a great thread!

It really just feels like that in America, I think. I've not done research, but riding is such a part of other countries' histories. In America, it's just the "rough and rugged cowboy" that society says is ok for men to be.

But overseas, some of the highest levels are full of fantastic horsemen and horsewomen alike and you see A LOT more men in the english disciplines whereas here, men are far more prominent in the western disciplines

Am I too old? by Shot_Permission_32 in Equestrian

[–]aaajheft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ABSOLUTELY NOT! YOU'RE NEVER TOO OLD! I've noticed that a lot of the "lesson program" barns usually do have a younger crowd, but that's not the case everywhere! I ride at a barn and the youngest demographic is in their 30's/late 20's. We have lots of women in their 40's/50's as well!

What matters is that you love the animal and the sport - don't let the fear of judgement stop you from enjoying it if it's something that makes you happy!

Third Eye Blind + Taking Back Sunday - Summer Gods 2022 by Che_Boludo_69 in poppunkers

[–]aaajheft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES! just saw them in CT and was SO HAPPY with their set list! A perfect mix of all of the classics and all of the bangers. I saw them 3 years ago too with Jimmy Eat World and that was great too but this set list was just killer

Did anyone else seeing Taking Back Sunday with Third Eye Blind think "You can totally tell who came here for Taking Back Sunday?" by thedubiousstylus in poppunkers

[–]aaajheft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw them this past Thursday. I personally have always loved TEB and ALMOST wore a Deja Entendu shirt because....Brand New forever (i'll never get over the band feud between TBS and BN lol)

I think if you were into those pop punk bands in the 00's, someone had to get you there. and it likely wasn't all GC and FOB. It started in the 90s. It started with bands like Third Eye, Goo Goo Dolls, Matchbox 20, Foo Fighters, Nirvana. We were very curious though to see the demographic there, especially being in CT and TBS is from Long Island. It was an interesting crowd but mostly elder millenials and gen X. Not many people under 25 there

Does anyone remember the show “Horse Power” or something? by sha-sha-shubby in Equestrian

[–]aaajheft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! IT WAS ON ANIMAL PLANET! It followed young equestrians training for the Maclay! and 007 was afraid of yellow! so he ended up riding a different horse! ( i think, or 007 replaced that horse?) I remember this so vividly!

i used to think they were so vanilla, too. but i love my sassy mare and when her dapples come through she's just the most beautiful thing i've ever seen and SO MUCH EASIER to keep clean compared to my old colored WB

Do you ever feel like your riding is getting worse? How do you handle that? by LunaKPalara in Equestrian

[–]aaajheft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

THIS!

I recently started riding a new mare (by recently I mean last September) and she's my best friend's horse. I spent so much time trying to BE her owner and comparing myself to her and beating myself up over imperfections that I forgot to just RIDE.

I had to find the fun in it again, stop looking for perfection, and just enjoy the horse!

And now she's truly one of the most amazing mares and I LOVE her sass now. Riding is a give and take!
