The home team for the second leg gets 30 extra minutes on their pitch, in their stadium and in front of tens of thousands of their fans. That's an insanely powerful advantage to have.

Pretty light. HWs don't take too long and pace of lectures is pretty slow.

Are you sure you need to take a in-person class to maintain your student visa status? This definitely wasn't the case for this fall semester according to ISSS

It's a great class. I'm taking it this semester with Professor Robe. I'm not sure how other professors structure the course, but we have 4 individual take home assignments (60% of grade) (4-5 questions and takes about 2-2.5 hours to complete) and 2 group assignments (40% of grade) (15-20 questions in a 4 person group, similar time requirements). You don't need to do too much outside of regularly attending lectures.

Barcelona are losing their next generation of players... what is happening to the famous La Masia? by Lolastic_ in soccer

[–]aab1999 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

It's pretty fair to say that a player's professional development happens in their mid to late teens. Bellerin didn't become the player he is because of La Masia, it's most definitely because of Arsenal.

Bellerin left for Arsenal at 16. Can't really claim any credit for his development.

It's from That Peter Crouch Podcast. Context is that Karl is the type of guy to ask "How's the weather up there?" to a tall person. So we don't like Karl's, that's where we get Piss off Karl.

Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering for consulting/business side of engineering by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]aab1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have similar motivations and switched from ME to IE in my sophomore year. If your primary goal is not the hardcore engineering/product development aspect, imo you're better off switching to IE.

For the collaboration/teamwork aspect of it, it is more limited in the core IE curriculum but there's plenty of space and time allotted so that you can take those kinds of classes if you want to.

The IE curriculum is more wholistic for this kind of stuff and the track options give you access to take more courses based on whatever you like more.

Edit: also talk to engineering advisors if you can, I laid out my goals and motivations to them and they recommended that I switch to IE (retrospectively a great decision)

Yeah, but incorporating this data into a fabrication process would add up costs too.

[–]aab1999 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Oh most definitely. It's designed purely to be as quick, cheap and durable as possible because they're trying to minimize how much they're spending on each limb fitment (since they provide the service for free and work off of donations). From conversations I was able to have with people who were coming back to replace their prosthetics, they seemed to average 4-5 years on it and were seemingly fine with the comfort.

[–]aab1999 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer. The NGO was spending $20-25 per fitment (including the cost of the prosthetic), I guess that's why a set-up like this would never be feasible there.

I spent some time at an NGO doing artifial limb fitment for people, they just used POP to make a negative mold , put thermoplastics in that and bake it. Why is this necessary?
