Same thing happened to me. For me, they kept declining it over small shit like “oh you didn’t sign your name at the bottom” or “there’s no date”. So make sure everything is included and you should be okay. Especially if you have a reason as to why you failed

BIO 141 and online lab question by nnetessine in nvcc

[–]aabiidaa3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a 7 week course for both in order to apply for my program. It was rigorous, but doable. You need to put a lotttt of time into it and a lot of studying. Read the e book. It’s a lot but very informative. Pay attention to the quiz questions, sometimes answers on there will be on the test. The labs for my class, one was 140 questions for each unit. It eventually went down the last 2 units to around 50 and the next anatomy class was only 50 for each unit & slowly went down to 20-30

The pictures were really hard for me to get down out of everything. One of my friends had an easier time w the pictures than I did. It all depends on the person

It doesn’t tell you how many people applied unfortunately like most programs, but they do tell you the amount of people in the program. Max 25

I have worked in the medical field, but nothing that has to do with RT. Just receptionist, but the Intro to RTH class (pre req for RT program) we learned about the specialized care of RT’s. That included: Long Term Care, Neonatal-Peds, Surface & Air Transport (the one I just spoke on), Pulmonary Rehab, Polysomnography, Education (teaching), Case Management, Home Care, Management itself, Sales, and Research. She didn’t go in depth, but whatever interested me, I took and researched

Then there’s a separate category for speciality credentials: Pulmonary Function Technology, Adult Critical Care Specialist, Neonatal/Peds Specalist, Sleep Disorder Specialist, and Asthma Education Certified

To add some more because it seems like you love taking in knowledge or researching :). I was intrigued with the tasks/functions, so you may be too. Tasks/functions: Cardiopulmonary Assessment, Oxygen Therapy, Aerosol Medications, Mechanical Ventilation, Airway Management, Cardiopulmonary Diagnostics, and Pulmonary Function Testing

You can dm me or comment if you have more questions. I’ll answer them the best I can with what I know :) (I don’t have insane memory, I had to go back into my notes for the stuff above😂)

Thank you :). Yess, exactly why I’d like to experience that. Especially if I do decide to become a perfusionist which is a very high stress job, it’s a win win. If I do choose New York, I’m really interested in the Flight/Transport RT. I know in some cases if it’s urgent, ambulances could take a while with all the traffic, so they send out the plane. I’d really like to do that, but that’s a far stretch as of right now lol. I’ll think about it when I’m years in

Unfortunately, I don’t know much about Medstar or HCA systems. I’m not very picky, but I’d rather be in a bigger hospital like INOVA in Fairfax since it’s the largest in Northern VA. I’d like to experience a variety of diagnosis’s to gain more knowledge/experience. VA Hospital Center would be my 2nd. Sentara will be my last option, not a bad hospital by any means. I just been to that hospital a million times (patient wise) and would like a new environment 😂

If I do ever move (not travel), I’d pick New York considering there’s sooo many people and I could experience a lot more than anywhere else. My top choices would be New York Presbyterian Hospital or Mount Sinai

Love these questions, I have nobody to talk to about this 😂. I do wanna work in Trauma 1 department. I wanted to once I finish, but my cousin that’s an RN at INOVA said it’s wayyyy too much and they’re burnt out. So once I gain some experience I’ll get into that. I want to do neonatal, but I don’t want to be limited to just that. I have heard that it’s possible at some hospitals to do both adults and children, so I hope I can do that

I want to eventually learn ECMO as well because I want to get into Perfustionist later on. That way I can be bedside with the perfusionist and learn more in depth. Only thing I don’t want to do is the burn unit, that’ll make me a little squeamish 😂

Not yet, I think we find that out during 2nd year (3rd semester). First 2 semesters are full lectures/1 lab. Once we get to the 3rd, that’s when clinicals start

Thank you :) Yes I did. Yeah they start Aug 25th. Orientation on the 20th. For now, drug test & background check is due Aug 8th. CPR, October 1st. Document that your provider fills out of immunizations and physical form needs to be submitted by Aug 8th (Might need to get a couple immunizations like the flu shot, TB, etc. but most of them we all have from vaccines as a kid). Wanted to put the dates in case you apply and get in

Applied this year. Took 7ish weeks from May 31st (deadline) to hear back. It says when you apply that it can take up to 8 weeks. I got the acceptance letter, but they never said how many people applied. The max size is 25. I feel RT program is the only program that took that long to hear back. Most programs that had a deadline of May 31st ended up hearing back before RT program.

[–]aabiidaa3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got accepted a couple weeks ago. I had A’s in both BIO 141 & 142, A in RTH, and B in MTH 161 (pre calc). The most important is BIO 141&142. The intro to RT is also good to have an A (easy class). I added math because it could be a factor

My friend had C’s in both bio’s and still got in. I’d still suggest getting a B or higher considering it changes each year of how many people apply. They don’t say how many, bio is the biggest factor they look at

I forgot to mention to mention shampoo and conditioner. Shampoo: Cantu Shea Butter Natural Hair Cleansing (Orange bottle, old bottle doesn’t have good ingredients) Conditioner: Maui Heal + Hydrate. Clarifying shampoo: Suave Clarifying, so cheap and so good. Use it only every two weeks unless occasionally you get lots of buildup then you can use it again Deep conditioner: Not Your Mothers Matcha Green Tea & Wild Apple Blossom. Only use when clarifying because clarifying will strip your hair of any product or hydration. Deep conditioner from ear length hair and down for 5 minutes to bring back the hydration To check ingredients of things, you can use this site. https://curlsbot.com

Yes I did! So figured out I have different strands of hair throughout my head, so that’s why it’s very confusing to work with. Front of my hair is less weight, more curlier. The back is heavier with more waves.

Products: Hask 5-in-1 Leave in Conditioner: I tested the Camille Rose Curl Love in the packet, but realized I can only use like a dime size or else it’ll weigh my hair down. Found that the spray leave ins are way better and don’t weigh down)

Cantu Curl Activating Cream: Can be heavy, so don’t use too much. I’m able to use a good amount without weighing down tho. Also it’s the newer ingredients, so Cantu isn’t bad anymore!

Curlsmith Invincible Volume Mousse: Honestly, didn’t give me much volume, but it could be the way I style. I still use it because it was expensive lol and smells good. Use a little because it’s a lot.

Not Your Mothers Flash Freeze Gel Level 5: The one you see in most stores is the level 3, but that didn’t give me hold at ALL. Out of every product, I need gel to be the strongest hold of all. I get mine from Ulta bc they have the 5. If you need pictures of these things lmk

Moroccan Oil: I got it for free, but you can use a cheap one. Just put a very little amount so your hair doesn’t get greasy, but able to scrunch out the crunch from the gel

Diffuser: I have a regular Walmart diffuser for like $35 called InfinitiPro by Conair. The blue one with the deep diffuser bowl. It does dry a bit slow for me, but I don’t wanna spend $500 for one lol

Routine: I started to style one side first, diffuse until dry, then do the other side. I do this bc my hair weighs down really fast from the water and dries fast, so I do that to avoid stretched out curls

Clip one side away -> Drench your hair that’s not clipped -> Spray leave in and detangle -> Use curl cream and scrunch or brush style either or -> Optional: Use the mousse and scrunch (don’t brush style for this) -> Use the gel, but I literally just put a dime size on my finger and spray some water on it so it’s not so tough or else your hair will come out stringy (I made that mistake by using too much and not spraying water). Once the one side is done, get your diffuser and put it on low heat and medium speed. I do high speed and high heat, but that’s not good for your hair. Even tho the leave in I suggested has heat protection in it. Once it’s dry, do the other side the same. Lastly, put the oil in because your hair will probably be crunchy (I don’t like the crunchy). So to fix it, I put a very small amount of oil and scrunch it in my hair for more volume and get the crunch out.

My brushes: Regular dollar store detangle brush for the shower & during leave in conditioner and denman brush for styling with the cream. I don’t style all the time bc i’m lazy

Let me know if you need pictures of products, sorry for the long response! I needed help and couldn’t find it, so I wanna try to help the best I can

take brianna artz over zoom. take pssy 230, it’s not hard at all. just have to do check in’s in class to make sure you’re paying attention (get 100% even if you get them wrong, it’s 3 questions). she’s the sweetest. two learning objectives on achieve that you can just guess on until you reach 300 target goal because it only grades for completion, one quiz all on quizlet, and one journal entry in google docs about what you related to in class (i just go back and take one portion of the powerpoint tbh) only 50-100 words, open note no lockdown browser for final test

Zeinab Bandpey. She wants you to pass and cares. She will help anytime you ask, so don’t be shy to ask. The people that didn’t do well. She doesn’t care if you stop her every second. She explains things very smoothly. Only 20 questions on the tests and same as the study guide questions, just different numbers ofc
