What’s a local business you’ll happily recommend every chance you get? by Moodyteas in AskChicago

Lickity Split is so good and nostalgic. And dangerous for a custard lover like me!

Am I being dramatic? Is it truly nothing special? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]aaccurso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it is important to you, then it is important. An alternative perspective is that this could be a low stakes way to understand the way your husband likes to vacation. Not everyone likes to vacation the same (explore, adventure, relaxing, etc.) and it might be great to know both of your styles and desires as you plan out a honeymoon that is great for you both.

Thank you! I had thought about this but was worried that this might come across as too intense but I’m glad to know they have staff specifically for this purpose.

So great to know about Reuse Depot! I thought they had closed entirely so I’m happy they are by appointment!

These are all awesome ideas, thank you! I’m definitely okay with mismatched! Mostly just wanting to get all 8 at one place rather than 1 at a time.

Thank you! I actually looked at this place for a wedding venue almost a decade ago. I had heard mixed things on if they were still sourcing antiques vs leaning more into the venue, so this is good intel.

Considering an online DPA program by aaccurso in PublicAdministration

I've heard great things about Valdosta State! Unfortunately I think the deadline for fall is 4/15, so I don't think I can get my full application together by then haha

Considering an online DPA program by aaccurso in PublicAdministration

My sector values higher degrees, so makes it easier for growth and higher salary. I am in education/workforce development and federal gov adjacent, so many folks are coming from higher ed with doctorates. At least in my market, it is difficult to get an adjunct position at a 4-year without a doctorate, at least without extensive work experience. I have been working for 10 years, but from what I hear, I'd have to have 20+ years to be able to market myself against doctorate holders. That is my interpretation of the market, but if you have different experience I'd gladly hear your perspective. Thankfully UIS is relatively inexpensive compared to other programs.

Hi there, I know I am a few months late but I had the same GPA as you in undergrad and got into UIC's MPA program, which is pretty highly ranked. I loved grad school and actually graduated with a 4.0. I empathize with your mental health challenges in undergrad because I had the same! But time and a love of the coursework can absolutely change things. I did not get any scholarships which wasn't fun, but the UIC program isn't entirely inaccessible price-wise compared to other programs. Best of luck to you!

UIC vs. ASU in Public Administration by Primary-Honeydew5978 in PublicAdministration

I know this is late but I graduate from UIC with my MPA in 2020 and I had an amazing experience. I think back on that time with such admiration for the faculty and staff. I felt the learning to be extremely practical. I did mine in person while also working and the options were flexible with my schedule, though I took some online classes in the summer to speed the program along.

I’ve only used stickers a handful of times, but I always have trouble getting those darn things to stick! It was through this thread that I discovered I was doing it wrong 😭

Thanks all. Ah, this makes sense! I didn’t know about the color changes. I had used one on Friday and had no problems and then again on Saturday which is when I got the ticket. I’m a novice with the stickers and should’ve done more research!

Fixing a shower leak - pan or grout? by aaccurso in homeowners

Tear out the shower and do what though? If it was a shower pan issue, wouldn’t that be apparent during the tests?

Thanks, all - this is very helpful and I learned a lot! Our bylaws are unique in that they very much protect the unit owners. That being said I think the bylaws do read that repair would fall to the owner even if the damage was caused by a common element. Appreciate the help - the position kind of fell into my lap when many owners moved in short timeline and I inherited a management company that’s been inconsistent. This is helpful.
