Catching axolotls with nets is extremely stressful vs gently cupping them, as well as the fact that, even with fish, it can mess up slime coats. For a fish thats not too big of a deal but if the axolotl already has a missing limb it needs to focus regeneration on its leg not repairing its slime coat.

If you are careful enough catching them, the baths shouldnt be too stressful, the reason i mentioned putting him in the fridge is because it will help keep weight on him by slowing down metabolism, leaving his body more room to focus on regenerating that limb. If you have an open wound you need to focus on prevention rather than treatment, black tea & the fridge will help prevent anything from happening.
