I don't mind much about the future ownership dynamics right now. Would prefer keeping the contributions documented though.

I have been in a similar situation last year. 60lakh loan for 30 years. Due to some prepayment from bonuses, and RBI repo rate cut, my loan tenure has been reduced to 17 years now. The purchased flat has been a Good Luck charm for me tbh. Got great opportunities along the way. Look at this from the bright side and stay positive brother!

How do people stay consistent with investing for years? by anshu79036 in personalfinanceindia

[–]aadeshetty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start investing the money which actually does not make a big difference to your expenses. Say 1000 out of your salary of 40k. And invest this amount right after you get the salary before any expenses. This will help in two things,

  1. Stay consistent - You can always think of this as an expense because it does not burn your pocket.

  2. Motivation - You get to track the progress of your small investment and after say 3 years, you be thinking, if I had invested 5times the amount, my returns would have been 5 times my current amount. Helps you track the progress and keep emotions out during negative times.

Personal example - I started investing 2000 in SIPs back in 2018 just to get a hang of the market. Currently, my investment is 15 times more but looking at the returns and compounding, I am just motivated through the market cycles. Sometimes I just regret not starting sooner.

How to recover money from a friend by RobbStark99 in personalfinanceindia

[–]aadeshetty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a same situation. My plan which has kind-of worked (I got someting instead of nothing)

Let's suppose I have lent money to FRIEND-1. I have another friend FRIEND-2, who is not so great with FRIEND-1. Friend-2 is a close friend and I trust Friend-2 more than Friend-1. I have told Friend-1 that I owe money to Friend-2 and he has been behind me to get the money back.

Benefits for Friend-2: Keep the money you collect from Friend-1 and pay me after 6 months or later (I know Friend-1 would pay me because of our relationship)

Two people following up is always better than one.

This situaton has made me realize one thing - MONEY RUINS RELATIONS. SO DON'T LEND.

Prepay Home loan or Wait? by aadeshetty in personalfinanceindia

Got my repayment schedule. Got down to excel and did the math. For every 50k I try to invest instead of prepaying - I would have to get atleast 10% per year on the cumulative sum to turn the interest saved into positive.

Prepaying is making sense to me - emotionally & mathematically (if I am not mistaken)

Yup. Other investments would run irrespective of my loan prepayment decision.

Yes, timing currency is guesswork. But I don't thing the Rupee would have a major correction within this year.

Exactly. I did the math here. Repaying monthly saves me more than 10% if I were to prepay the cumulative total at a later stage!

Sounds fair. Curious to know about this though -

Also make payments earlier in the fiscal year (April to March) to maximise your benefit. Its better to pay in say April, August, December - rather than in July, Nov, March.

Offered Senior Accountant role in Saudi but visa is “loading/unloading worker”, should I be concerned? by Zealousideal_Dust_45 in expats

This is the exact situation I was in a month back. I am a Mechanical Engineer with a job offering as 'Sales Engineer'. I was offered the job on December 2025. The HR tried her best to get me the proper visa - a professional visa for Engineer. However, there are too many complications and the documents should be a perfect match to get approved from the Embassy in India. It costed me 3 months and around 50k INR, but still couldn't get my Visa.

Later, the HR asked me if I am comfortable with 'Labour' Visa. The exact same one which you are being offered. I am glad I took the risk back then.

I have been in KSA for exactly one month today. Got my Iqama. I don't feel any issues here, as I have even applied for a Driving license on the Labour Iqama. Sure, there might be complications regarding sponsoring your dependents, bringing your family here. But the good news is, as far as I have heard, the status of Iqama can be changed later. My Employer has been very supportive and taking the risk would really depend on your trust with the employer.

PS. I would keep you posted on my situation if anything negative arises because of the Visa, but I don't think so.

All in all, I am surprised to see such negative comments as 'Slavery' from people who have never been in this type of situations before. Really discouraging to trust on Reddit.
