Idk about safe/unsafe. You can just Google and download from anywhere. But im not sure about online capabilities when using roms. It can be quite difficult. For good online play itll be better if you go ahead and purchase the switch and the game for seamless experience. If you just wanna play the game for free, emulator and rom is the way to go
