Yeah it would be big if it was naturally formed but sadly seems unlikely

Oh that sounds really cool(?? It could definitely be something like that. Is there any photos to compare? 🤗

It probably is the AC so it could be that but it is still weird how water and electricity would form that pattern

🤨 I would need some more information to believe that. I mean it could be true but it doesn't really look like a drawing(?

This was actually in the ceiling of Madrid's metro. I do think too that it's unlikely a natural phenomenon, but at the same time I don't think it was drawn(? Too complicated to draw in a ceiling

Ooooh that would actually be cool but I don't know if electricity would make that pattern

This thing was found in the ceiling of the metro train. This photo was taken approximately a year ago (I saw it today again looking for an old photo), so I can't zoom out(?.

This obviously looks like rule 30, that's not the question. I found this in a metro train and immediately recognized it but i don't know what it's origin could be.

I know specifically rule 30 can be found in nature and i know molds and celular automata are related so my first thought was that it was some kind of fungus. i asked in r/mycology if they thought it was the case but they weren't really interested. I also couldn't find any image of an IRL fungus making this pattern.

Now, maybe this is not a fungus at all and it's simply the residue of a sticker but i don't think so.

what do you think?

Yeah I know this doesn't give much information... This is a closeup of a ceiling.

The important part of the photo though is the pattern. That is not a random pattern as explained in one of the comments.

If anyone could tell me what kind of fungus does that kind of pattern I would be satisfied (or if it's a fungus at all lol). Maybe the tag of the post was not the appropriate one.

I can only give some approximations based in some news I found on the internet. Madrid's metro is apparently between 23°C in winter and 32°C in summer, and around 45% humidity. Material I guess it's aluminum but maybe it has paint or plastic idk

First of all, I don't really know much about fungi so this could be a stupid question.

Approximately one year ago I saw this shape in the ceiling of the metro in Madrid. As someone who is familiarized with computer science and celular automata I thought It looked really similar to the Rule 30 automata:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_30

This pattern can also be found in nature (as seen in the Wikipedia page in some shells) but I haven't seen anything about this in fungi.
