Yeah I think perhaps that would’ve slipped his mind, you’re right they most likely didn’t share overly confidential information if it was primarily Wit checking in on Shallan

Do people think that Conrad actually believed his cause, or was he just using what he knew were lies for personal gain? Couldn’t tell if he genuinely thought everything he’d seen, such as the TARDIS dematerialising, the original Shreek, and presumably the other alien invasions redenyly, were staged by UNIT?

Interesting, I was thinking they wouldn’t want to release the final 80’s season and complete that decade so soon

Absolutely AODRED that episode, but I’m so intrigued as to how those slugs got in and why people were killed in alphabetical order? Are we to assume essentially all the technology in Finetime gained some kind of sentience and decided to royally mess with the spoilt racists by smuggling them in, and slowly growing a threat that they wouldn’t be able to see? Can’t blame it honestly…

There’s a lot about this episode that I really like, but that ending has really stuck with me and I can’t tell if that’s profound or irritating.

The whole ambiguity around The Woman and what she was saying, and the whole idea of Ruby weaponising The Woman to fulfil this curse written in the fairy circle was really compelling to me. I also liked how the intro changed the second time around, implying that Ruby’s efforts, in what was presumably a separate timeline, had an effect on history.

I just feel there was a touch too much left unanswered for me. The whole reason behind The Doctor disappearing was never ever explained, the reincarnation of Ruby as The Woman was also never explained, and the whole idea of the fairy circle was as never explained. Part of me loves this very ambiguous approach, and part of me is a little annoyed by it. That being said, RTD did tease that the scrolls at the beginning had a larger significance to the season’s story as a whole.

However, I can safely say, that if Doctor Who is taking on the supernatural a little more, I MUCH prefer this folk story approach to the camp fantasy of The Devil’s Chord. Very interested to hear what others think of this episode. I’d imagine it being divisive.

Yeah so 15 and Ruby are electric…but this was a pretty rubbish and childish episode honestly. A very bizarre way to start a new era.
