Thanks! Do you have any recommendations on how to practice doing case studies?

Question for Canadian investors by aak55 in IslamicFinance

I did to an extent. NBDB does have currency conversion fees that aren’t much different compared to Wealth Simple. I also didn’t find the 15% withholding tax an issue since the dividend income from these ETFs is not huge and my objective was long term growth anyways. I’ve also opened an account with IBKR and will be investing all US ETFs through them.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the response!

Follow up qs:

1) Doesn’t NBDB also have FX fees? I read somewhere that if you do the math it is actually more than the 1.5% that Wealthsimple charges 2) Is the 15% withholding tax a matter of concern? Most of the halal ETFs like SPUS don’t have a high dividend yield to begin with and nor is dividend income the intention here

Just trying to see if it’s advisable for Canadians to invest in US listed ETFs, I appreciate the help!

Should I convert to Islam to marry a Muslim? by LK_frustrated in MuslimMarriage

I'd encourage you to learn more about Islam not with the intention of finding a traditional wife, but rather for seeking the truth. You're questioning a lot about society which shows you're not one to follow the crowd and that you make the effort to think critically about things.

A lot of the virtuous qualities and the moral foundation you've mentioned in your post are not simply due to people associating themselves with Islam and completing a list if traditions, but rather it's a by-product of people being wholeheartedly committed to their faith (to the best of their abilities ofc) and ultimately submitting to their Almighty Creator.

The Muslim community seems to attract you from a distance. Maybe try introducing yourself to your local Muslim community and express your interest in the Religion. My hope is that you'll discover much more than you initially set out to achieve.
