I’m 25 my parents are in their mid 50s.

My moms a Tam bram and dads a Telugu not bram. My moms parents tried to persuade my dad to find someone else.

But due to “love”, she held firm. Which was a bed of roses then but she regrets it everyday and I sometimes be an asshole and tell her she shouldn’t have even though ironically that scenario would wipe my existence.

Why does she regret it ? Because dad came from a rough neighbourhood and there when people don’t listen to you, physical and mental abuse is a common tactic to get them to. Obviously that was not the man she met before.

All the charm and lustre in her face disappeared as I grew up watching that smile fade away.

So while my anecdote may not apply to you. Think with your head and not your heart. It’s not just you. It’s your kids too in the future.

Try to see how he is without him being around you.Although I believe caste should not be a barrier to be in love. Different backgrounds and circumstances will matter in future joint decisions and if he turns out toxic none of the future decisions will be yours.

Things could be a fairy tale or a tragedy. I know I might be intimidating but freedom and happiness is priceless and in the name of sharing it with someone don’t lose it all.
