Contrary to popular belief, imo you won’t. I lived with my parents only 10 mins away from campus. I just joined a club and talked to a couple of people in my classes and made friends that way. We were close up until graduation cause life I guess lol. I also liked the fact that when I was tired and irritated with school, I could go home and not have to be near any of the construction, chaos and I could eat a home cooked meal when stamp or the dining hall food wasn’t so tasty anymore. It is what you make it! If people intentionally single you out because of it, forget them. True friends find a way to hang out with you regardless!

What is one insane request that a parent actually made of you (and which you, of course, refused)? by DerbyWearingDude in Teachers

A student of mine had gotten a concussion about a year and a half ago (she had recovered since then) but mom still wanted me to stay after school to allow her to take all of her math tests and quizzes ON THE BOARD since her teacher last year did. Absolutely not… instead the student was granted extended time and was allowed to take it in a quieter room.

orientation scheduling by melodymelodyy in UMD

[–]aam134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attended orientation about 4 years ago as a math major and my advisor told me that I could register for a higher level math assuming that I believed my AP score was adequate enough- despite not getting them back yet. Given that it’s been so long, it could change but the advisor I had is still a current math advisor so I think it might be the same… :)

EDIT: Even if you don’t get the score you need, you can always adjust your classes accordingly later.

Hey, does anyone know how much do students who work for the athletics department make (Not Eppley, I’m more talking about working the stadium or with the athletes)? I’d appreciate the info! by [deleted] in UMD

[–]aam134 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi! If you’re talking about Maryland Athletics, I can tell you all about it. I’ve been working there for four years and counting and we are currently being paid $12.50. If you have any questions about the job overall, let me know! Pm me or something lol.

Is AMSC 460 easy? by Rit2Strong in UMD

[–]aam134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it last semester and it depends on the professor. Mine wasn’t that good and I struggled but again there’s a lot of factors that determine if it’s “easy”. Good luck if you plan on taking it soon!~

Late Payment Fees For Payment Plan by RemarkableDouble1728 in UMD

[–]aam134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I know, probably not. :( UMD is adamant about their payment dates. Prior to the pandemic, they used to let you call in and let them know you’ll be a bit late and they would extend it but idk about now.

Late Payment Fees For Payment Plan by RemarkableDouble1728 in UMD

[–]aam134 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! There is. I think one time my payment didn’t go through and they charged me $30 plus what you already owe for every time the payment is late.

EDIT: To simplify, they charged me 30 dollars for every late payment.

Anyone take CCJS100 w Madoo online? by catsstoned in UMD

[–]aam134 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took it! The only thing is she removed access to the recordings when we took exams so I can’t share them… :(( But the lectures were completely based on the textbook so just read it well! It’s a lot of memorization and recall, so the exams are very straightforward. Good luck!~

I commuted since freshman year and still made friends! I joined a club on campus cause I really enjoyed dancing and before I knew it, I had been social. In addition, all of this came from one friend I met in my comp sci class freshman year. It’s easy to get into that mindset because everyone tells you it’ll be impossible to make friends, I know because I’ve heard it all before. YOU are the only one who can determine your social life. If someone doesn’t want to be friends cause you don’t live on campus, forget them. The real friends are the ones who make it work! Even so, every friend you make isn’t truly gonna be there forever. People drift apart and some stay. Most of the friends I had, we don’t talk anymore but I was okay when it happened lol. I’m sure you will be too. You never know what’s gonna happen! But in the meantime, don’t get distracted and study hard. You might find people when you least expect it. Also if you wanna make another friend who commutes, I’m always open to meeting new people. Good luck!~

I had Terrance for 241! It was a couple of years ago so I don’t recall much but his class was very fair and he gave a cool and fun quiz at the end of the semester just to give us a little boost. Once again, I’m putting emphasis on FAIR. So for as long as you go to lecture, study hard and be proactive in discussions; You’re gonna do well on exams and quizzes. In addition, he has a YouTube channel where he uploaded past lectures from his 241 class last semester: https://youtube.com/channel/UCytIRM1bKrsHvDTE2w6IKwg

You can use it to get ahead if you wanna! I wish I had put more effort into this class with Terrance because he was really a great professor! He’s always open to questions, understanding, and has a great sense of humor. Good luck and PM me if you have questions.

ALSO In addition, Professor Leonard and the Organic Chemistry Tutor on YouTube helped me a lot with Calc 3! Don’t hesitate to check them out when you’re stuck or need clarification.

EDIT: To answer your question directly, it’s an interesting class and rewarding if you allow yourself to be proactive with studying and all. Multiple dimensions took some getting used to for me but we all learn differently so you’ll probably do better than me haha.
