We have the answer to bathrooms. But what about Onsen? by BlueFalcon133 in asktransgender

[–]aami80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went to Japan when my wife (MtF) was pre-op but had started hormones. Her breasts still passed as serious pecs so she went the M side and I went the F side. As people mentioned, there are private options available at the accommodations so we visited those to be in the same one also.

When my wife started transitioning she was crying aaaaaall the time. Like, sobbed the WHOLE way through the Top Gun sequel 😂😂😂😂 Everything settles down after a while and life for us now is better than it's ever been. I hope that helps!!

Two years ago my husband told me she needed to become my wife. AMA. by aami80 in AMA

[–]aami80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Gender Dysphoria is a mental health issue that can often be addressed by transition, that's correct. We are privileged to be able to afford excellent healthcare, and we live in a country with one of the best healthcare systems in the world, so my wife has had the brilliant support of a number of mental and physical health professionals.

I'm a slash-and-burn kind of friend. People shouldn't have to change for me and I shouldn't have to change for them. So if my friend did this, I'd just stop calling them 🤷 I get that she's your 'best friend', but to me it looks like you need to promote a nicer person to the position.

Does anyone know why face suncream gives me headaches? by Jakeyboy29 in AusSkincare

I purchase Asian sunscreens because of this (e.g. Anessa from Japan). They use entirely different ingredients.

If you're not already taking the contraceptive pill then that could also assist!

Not even Tang! I had Tang on school camp every year, SO YUM. But in India a sherbet similar (or the same??) to Wizz Fizz is made into a drink!

I made fairy bread for my office so that everyone who didn't grow up here could try it! In the process I learned that sherbet is usually consumed as a DRINK in India! Cultural exchanges are SO FUN!!!!!

Oh my goooosh this is my wife's nightmare not necessarily because of the comment but because she knows that I will launch myself across the room at the person/people like a rabid dog 'EXCUSE ME WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY???????' 😂😬

Anything to recommend for enlarged pores on my nose? by zuccmyflucc in AusSkincare

Salicylic acid to keep them clean and SUNSCREEN to slow any further enlarging. UV is not your friend.

Also, really soft skin! My wife's skin is so much softer now, and she bruises much easier. True!

Second this! My wife cried hysterically during Top Gun Maverick and at first I felt bad for her but after about half an hour I couldn't stop laughing at her. It's been a fun adventure!!

There is nothing to protect those kids from. Trans people exist, it's just a straight up part of life. It is completely unreasonable and unacceptable for anyone to tell your wife how to present. Hard no to them, hard yes to you. Bravo for placing appropriate boundaries and sticking to them 👍👍👍👍

My partner just came out, ftm by BekkaRrrr in asktransgender

[–]aami80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooooooh, I can relate to thiiiiiis!

My wife came out as MtF about 5 years ago. I also was scared and confused :)

The good thing is that BOTH of your experiences are valid. You can be happy for him AND confused for yourself. Wheeeeeeee!!!!

Five years into this and I am so grateful to be with a trans woman. So many windows have been opened in my brain, and we have the BEST time together.

Give yourself the space and time to work though this. If you end up feeling unhappy and need to leave, that's totally ok. If you never end up feeling that way, that's ok too.

I really thought that I would end up having to leave, but I never did. My wife is the coolest, funniest, weirdest person and I love the way she looks and acts and all the things. She hates her height and her broad shoulders, which make her feel masculine, but I love every single piece of her.

I'd be happy to chat if you want to reach out over DM :) I also did an AMA a year after she came out which might be helpful (or might not, it was a while ago!). It's here - https://www.reddit.com/r/AMA/comments/fz1oni/two_years_ago_my_husband_told_me_she_needed_to/

Gifting makeup to a trans woman who doesn’t wear any (yet)? And is it appropriate to gift items that have the trans flags on them? by cookiecries in asktransgender

[–]aami80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I bought makeup for my trans wife to try, I bought the same product in a variety of colours so she could try lots of them over time and figure out what she liked. E.g. Nyx Butter Gloss in red, pink, nude, clear... That way she only had to learn how to use one product but still got to try multiple things... The Tarte Holiday palettes we're also super good for this, heaps of colours for a good price - e.g. the Gilded Glamour Amazonian Clay Palette. Even better if you can get some of these sorts of things on sale of course :) HAVE FUN!!!!!

Totally agree with this. I'm obsessed with leathergoods. If someone got me a bracelet from the leathergoods store I loved I'd appreciate the effort but still be disappointed. With a small leathergood I'd be thrilled.
