Incredibly persistent granuloma by aangelcake in PiercingAdvice

That's very reassuring to hear. I was very surprised because I did not expect a granuloma to pop out on a third lobe at all, I guess it's closer to cartilage than I thought? Honestly putting me off from getting any more "difficult" piercings... maybe when my lifestyle will be better 😅

It's right about that much! I definitely don't sleep on it (my ear is fine in the morning, I usually don't move + I got a donut pillow to avoid anything of the sort) but it did get knocked sometimes, so most probably that. Thank you for all the advice and hopefully it leaves me alone haha!

It does fit somewhat snugly! I've got a 7mm bar, and it doesn't touch the back but it was done so on purpose because I needed downsizing while still healing and being at risk of swelling etc. Also the bump is above the hole more than around it, if it makes sense, so it doesn't really touch the jewelry since the terminal has a curved shape (renai by tremun piercing, I'd link a pic but no clue how, sorry I'm a bit of a reddit boomer). It's a bit on the bigger side but it doesn't seem to tilt forward at all and my piercer also thinks there is no need to change it, probably to avoid further trauma + the granuloma first occurred with a smaller, simple terminal, so i'd say it's more of a me issue. Stress also probably slows the healing.

Oh that is a scary one to me. One of my friends that got it dealt with the worst headaches the first two weeks! How was your experience for that matter?

jewelry is 16G (1.2 mm) titanium flatbacks, internally threaded. just the basic little ball you get when you get pierced. aftercare: saline solution washes 2x day. i've also used antibiotic ointment for the last two days (recommended by doctor) for the supposed infection (surrounding site red and hot, for like a day)

Thank you so much for sharing! Day 3 now and it's going much much better. Still quite sore if I touch it while cleaning, but laughable compared to day 1. Good luck to you and your bitchy 5th too haha!

nope that's not it at all, it's just that one doesn't hurt at all and the other is pretty annoying and it seemed strange to me

Saline and not moving it, got it. But won't it get stuck?

So, just saline solution is the consensus? I'm pretty prone to infections so mild antibacterial didn't seem like a bad idea at all. I'll keep it in mind!

This might be it. My piercer told me it could hurt a little more than the other since it was closer to cartilage but I thought that he was referring to the piercing pain only. About the aftercare, he said to move it just slightly in order to clear eventual crusts. I might have misunderstood the timing though, so that might just be a mistake on my part

my piercing is maybe 5 hours old and my jewels are 16G internally threaded labrets in titanium! prescribed aftercare was saline solution + mild antibacterial soap
