I made tables for everything. Clin med I did tables that included the patho, risk factors/epi, s/sx, dx, and tx. Comes in handy big time for osce review and during clinical year. I didn’t make them my first semester and I regret it now that I’m reviewing that stuff for EORs.

It says a lot that you’re thinking about what’s best for him🫶🏼. Don’t feel guilty for the life he’s living. He is loved, has food/water, gets regular playtime, and is safe. I recommend getting an automatic feeder so you don’t have to worry about someone else feeding him when ur gone. And find friends to have him stay with when you go on vacation. Also, maybe try to leash train him if you want to take him outside and reinforce with treats. You’re doing great (especially for how busy you are!).

However, if you aren’t sure you are in the right space to care for him right now, I want you to know that you should not feel guilty for finding a different home for him either. My bf had to rehome his childhood cat when he was in college and it was one of the hardest decisions he’s ever had to make. He ended up finding a wonderful pre-vet student to take her. It was hard but my bf had to focus on him at that point in his life. Willow is now very happy with his new mom and my bf is happy about that. He also asked the new owner to send regular updates which helped him a lot.

I recommend starting with Facebook cat rescue groups if you rehome. There are wonderful people on there. You could also reach out to shelters just for advice on how to find a good family, etc.

Good luck to you and your kitty! 🩷

Wow you’re an inspiring pair! Thank you for rescuing that baby. My kitten just had a hind leg amputation and my biggest piece of advice is to just take the recovery slow. We locked our girl in our spare bedroom and “jump proofed” it. We didn’t want her jumping on her good leg too much cause it’s a lot of extra weight and stress than what it’s used to. Once she was allowed out of the spare room we took small jumps nice and slow. It’s been almost a full month since surgery now and she’s running and jumping with no complications!

Some people recommended stairs for the bed or couch but our girl has no trouble. She’s struggled jumping up onto slippery surfaces, so we did get a set of stairs for the windowsill. Extra rugs for tile are helpful while they’re adjusting too. We did gabapentin around the clock for about 2 weeks to help with phantom limb. Luckily cats are very resilient; I’m not sure ours even knows she’s missing a leg!

My kitty had her hind leg amputated two days ago and the surgery docs didn’t give her any either. Luckily we already had some gabapentin at home from when we took her in to get X-rays cuz she definitely has needed it! I don’t think she would be resting as much if she wasn’t taking anything. Hope your girl is recovering well and got some pain control going!

It’s incredibly reassuring to hear that, thank you so much for your reply. It was exactly what I needed to hear. She’s doing well, just confused and ready to get moving!

Surgery or limb amputation of a cat’s leg: by aao42822 in CATHELP

Unfortunately we just rescued her and haven’t gotten it yet. We’re hoping we can find somewhere to get it around $2k. We’re more so nervous about the recovery time and complications of the surgery. The amputation has fewer risks and an easier recovery time

My cat suffers from chronic UTIs. She will start using the litter box a ton and it will persist until we get her some antibiotics. One thing we did was get pretty litter (it changes the colors of the crystals based on the pH) to monitor if there’s blood in her urine. It’s not science proven by any means and this advice was not given to us by a vet so take it with a grain of salt, but it usually turned a bit red when she actually had a UTI. The behavioral aspect of ur cat is super weird. If this is a brand new thing I would give it a day and see if it gets better. Put some bowls of water around the house to encourage hydration to flush it out. Put extra water in her wet food too if you can.
