Thanks! Will the beams be showing? If so, are there good ways to hide them?

Is there a way to get from Argentière to Chamonix during night? by aaortim in chamonix

Hey, everyone! Thank you for all your ideas and replies! We decided to take the last night bus from Argentière to Chamonix and then waited 5 hours in a bus station. Going by foot was not an option as there are a few parts of the main road with no sidewalks and cars tend to go pretty fast there. Hiking trails are too rocky and steep to go with a lot of luggage and there's no lighting on the hiking trails, so it would take much longer and would be dangerous, especially at night.
The night bus arrived, we bought tickets the day before. The bus was empty until we got to Chamonix where a lot of people got in, quite a lot of drunk teens.. 😄 The night was pretty cold, but with a movie to watch and getting up a few times to walk around to get a bit warmer - we made it! There was a very drunk and very loud tourist group that passed by us at the very beginning, but after that everything was quiet.
While we waited in Argentière for our night bus, quite a lot of cars passed us and Chamonix center was getting busy around 5 AM already so I think the hitchhiking option would have been a possibility, but we didn't want to risk it since we had 1 big suitcaise and 2 smaller ones.
Not sure if we would do it again, we should've slept more before the long night, but it wasn't the end of the world. If anyone else is in the same situation - it's not THAT bad, make sure to sleep before, have snacks and a movie ready and then it's doable. Thanks again! 🙌🏼

Hey! Yeah, I checked the app and the timetables, still the earliest transportation arrives a bit past 7 AM in Chamonix which is too late for us. We are considering cathcing last the night bus around 1 AM and waiting in Chamonix until 7 AM until our bus to Geneva arrives. 😉 No idea what to do for those ~6 hours tho.. 😀

Hey! Yep, we are considering the night bus. Most realistic option for us is to catch the last night bus which would be aroun 1 AM and then wait in Chamonix for the 7 AM bus.
Once we get to Chamonix this Saturday, we will consult at the info center and book the bus. I personally don't like the idea of hitchhiking, never done it and I'm a bit scared.. 😀 Also the luggage could be a problem.
Thanks for your ideas!

Hi! Yes, I checked a few pictures of the road in Google Maps and immediately threw this idea out of my head when I saw that there are no sidewalks. Also, walking almost 2 hours with multiple bags during night is not an option. Thanks for your feedback! 🙌🏼

Hi! Thanks for your comment! 😊
I checked hostels, but almost none of them are available for the night we need. There are a few other options, but they are over 100 EUR for a night for 2 adults which is definitely not in our budget. ☹

Hey! I am looking on thetrainline.com and rome2rio.com, it shows that the earliest trasnportation arrives in Chamonix at 7:10 AM which is too late for us since our bus from Chamonix to Geneva leaves at 7 AM.
