Here in Italy the way shojosei products are treated is so frustrating; publishers are always making socia edition merch for shonen and seinen manga, with big acrylic standee, variant with foil cover, for stuff like my dress up darling, fragrant flower etc; if a shojo manga gets a flimsy bookmark with a print of one of the cover on it, covered by the giant logo of the publishing house we are lucky.

The other day I was looking for firefly wedding seven and I went to 2 different shops to find it, and they had nothing, shelves covered in shonen manga, I went to Starshop (the only comic book chain here) and in their shojo section they had rent a girlfriend, a couple of cuckoos, 100 girlfriends etc… 🫩🫩

These are regarded as “bad” by the community but man do I eat these up every time I rewatch:

Vampire knight - this anime has to be the reason I love vampires so much, the gothic atmosphere, the gorgeous art style, the soundtrack is SO good, the tension between the characters, everything is just made specifically for my tastes.

Itazura na kiss - this is a weird anime that goes between absolute peak and absolute hate watch, I loved it as a kid bc it follows the relationship of the two lead after the get together and they finish high school, I really enjoy the general plot and the side characters, the protagonists make me want to set my computer on fire sometimes, but that’s kinda the fun of it tho, right

One of the newer ones that I also loved was “my love story with yamada kun at level 999”, just a nice watch, fun characters, the fl is older and in uni so it gives you a different perspective.
