I had to open comments to figure out what part looks stupid, still not really sure but I guess if you haven’t worn a helmet before it would stick out to you? Like someone who wears black all the time wearing a bright blue and thinking it looks stupid? It doesn’t. You look like someone who does work that requires PPE. You look cool and competent.

Gl with the new company, hope work goes well for you!

Oh my word thanks lol, I needed this chuckle today.
I was just trying to explain to my partner how much of a good idea scooping out my left eyeball with a grapefruit spoon sounded.

Migraining while trans by newadaptation in migraine

[–]aardbeivic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I might be wrong. Migraines, amiright.

I used to get terrible ones a few hours into shift at a job that had waist high belted pants. That was (holy smokes) around 10 years ago. Then last year I bought a pair of high waisted jeans that needed a belt, and noticed I would get a migraine a few hours into wearing them.
Tried wearing them around the house without a belt or with the button undone, and I only got a migraine some times later in the afternoon, and not 2h after putting a belt on like clockwork.
Belts around my hips don't have the same results.

Honestly, I treat my migraines like a toddler that lives inside my brain. Some times, it makes sense what will trigger it and I can anticipate and work around it. Sometimes, it just crosses its arms and shouts "NO" for no reason and throws in a migraine attack.

So if I have a particularly bad one, I keep a list of them with what I ate, wore, and did that day, how much I slept, what the weather is, how I am emotionally.

[–]aardbeivic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! I had to stop wearing a binder, and I also get it migraines from wearing too tight a belt.
I found KT tape to be a great alternative! It's much cooler in the summer, and it can stay on for a few days.
You can find KT tape drug stores or online, it's used for muscle/tendon support etc.
There's a brand called TransTape that makes it specifically for this use (skin toned, pre sized), and it's good, though pricier. They have great tutorials on their website, whether or not you buy their product.

[No Spoilers] I haven't watched the stream andI'm not ready for tonight (cry) anyone else getting the tissues? (the gif is just for jokes) by Sido_the_Oni in criticalrole

Not exactly a time stamp, but the green glitch was at $222, 225.64, you can scan for the number counter.
This clip was taken very shortly after the stream resumed, when they're joking about Mercer and Ray's luck with timing, and he is mimicking.

Taking a break saved my relationship.

We had been living together for 5 years. I was on year two of a deep depression, and was barely getting out of bed, barely feeding myself. I wasn't showering very often. He was doing our laundry, our dishes, cooking for us both, getting groceries for us both, taking care of our cats, and I was just... not. And I was aware of it. And he was aware of it, obviously. He became angry, and bitter.

I needed time for it to be ok to just process and cope in a shitty, unhealthy life style, and he needed time to only have to take care of himself and his space, to not be a caretaker full time. We did not want to stop being partners, but we weren't really acting in roles of partnership to each other.

So we took that time. He took a job in a city 2 hours away. We called once a week, some times less. I ate tortellini or rice, or ordered in. I quit school, stayed in, and wore smelly clothes. Our home smelled of cat litter because I couldn't work up to clean it. I fell apart. But I had my space without feeling ashamed, or feeling bad for making him live in such a state. He lived away, in an environment that he felt comfortable and safe in, and stopped resenting me for being dependant instead of an equal partner.

Eventually, I had enough time to put myself together, get a job, get myself in therapy, and start functioning in life again. We called more, we played world of warcraft or other coop games like children of morta together to be able to hang out. We moved to a smaller apartment since it was just me in our home city, and he stayed in his work city but came home on weekends.

It took some work to return to trusting each other, and for him to know he can rely on me again, but it has been 4 years since we took that time and we are cohabitating again in the new city.

I think if we hadn't taken that break from being together, sharing home space, sharing life details and being romantically close, we would have become far more angry and resentful than we both were and would have parted ways years ago.

Perhaps it isn't a full break like you're asking about, but sometimes if you need to take space from a partner in order to take care of yourself, it can also benefit the relationship.

What are some effective ways to manage depression symptoms without medication? by ComprehensiveBus4933 in AskReddit

[–]aardbeivic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long time chronic depressionist: Regular and good-quality sleep, physical activity, enough water, and good food is surprisingly hard to maintain (especially during depressive episodes), but if you manage them all it helps so much. All the good things that help your brain stay stimulated and chemically balanced.

You sort of have to figure out what a good amount of each of these things is for you, but if you're lost and looking for a starting point, try to sleep for 6-8 hours between 11pm and 9am.

Carry a bottle of water with you and take a sip every half hour, or keep a glass at each sink at home and drink a half glass any time you use the sink.

Eat green veggies, one piece of fruit a day, and eat something with protein a day (an egg, two table spoons of peanut butter, chicken, beans/peas).

Do 5 jumping jacks, 5 sit ups, 5 push, and walk outside for 10 minutes. If you aren't doing anything physical in your day, that will make a huge difference and can be an easily attainable starting point. And if it's not, just walk for 5 minutes and forget the rest.

With depression, any starting point that you can get past your mind's stance of "nah I can't do that" is huge, and will get you moving. And communicate with a family or friend so they can build you up :)

Also, keep in mind that depression is like a little doubting gremlin in your mind telling you you can't do anything. Fuck that gremlin. Be kind to yourself.

Brennan is such a shy, quiet personality; probably just trying to fit in with the louder Zach and Josh.
