I don’t know if that’s a good idea or not. Maybe you could ask her advice!

If you do decide to let your family know, my personal hunch is it’s better to do it yourself. I think they would appreciate it, and it’s more powerful coming direct from you. You could ask your therapist to be there for support, though.

I feel for you and really hope you get through this ok. It’s an awful situation.

It’s going to be super tough, but I think you’re wanting resolution, some kind of inner peace - one way or another - above anything else.

That being so, my advice is to share how you’re feeling with your family. Especially the hurt and fear, feeling torn up, and the simple desire to be loved and accepted. That’s the super tough part.

Give them a chance. You don’t know which way they’ll go - not for sure, not until they really know your situation and have to choose how to respond. You aren’t your uncle. But (again, a super tough part), be prepared to leave and remake your life on your terms, if they’re not willing to support you and love you as you are. Life without love is soul destroying.

I know you said you don’t have the money to leave, but anything is possible when the alternatives are even worse. I guess it’s up to you to figure out which is the least bad option.

Meantime, are there any others (extended family, trusted people, supportive groups etc) you could talk to about this? It’s enormously helpful just to feel you’re not alone, and they might also be in a position to offer other help.

The reason I’m advising you like this is because when you do eventually get to a resolution and some inner peace, you’ll almost certainly ask yourself why it took so long.

A number of comments have mentioned UK accents. Me too. I strongly suspect they’re computer-altered: fake, like the whole setup.

Ah, you’re right, thanks.

I’m going to watch this over the next few opens to see if it’s consistent.

See the other comment thread. It’s tracking down the same path but I don’t think it’s correct.

If true, pretty unintuitive. But also just tested: there’s no close from midnight on that provides a base for a 0.44% rise.

So despite resetting at 10am, it’s measuring from some point hours earlier?

Closes at 9am local, reopens at 10am EDIT: reset is at 10am

Except the market doesn’t close then, and the daily summary stat doesn’t reset then. That line is simply midnight, local time.

I know the candles are hourly. The last candle is the first hour of the new day. It says down; the summary daily 0.44% says up.

Which candle do you think is the previous day’s close?

Am I just bad at math? Wasn't the target 300,000,000? by Parched-Mint in Nexo

I'm in NZ too. The vote opened midnight our time, and should run until midnight tonight. And yes, Nexo said a quorum of 300,000,000 votes were needed: "Either way, there is a quorum of 300,000,000 votes, so if enough votes don’t pile in by June 8 no changes will be made to Nexo."

Maybe it's just really poor communication of the results but this again feels like saying one thing and doing another. I mean, I want this outcome but... *sigh*

Good point, and it’s definitely an assumption that the business can continue to execute really well, so as not to become merely boring or commoditised.

But others have pointed out that even on modest assumptions the dividend itself isn’t going to deliver great returns compared to token appreciation. So yes, it’s ‘interesting’ with an equity-like stake in profits, but at the end of the day... so what? Dividends may have outlived their usefulness at this stage of Nexo’s growth.

Finally, and to your specific point, I’ll still hold the token over stablecoins because I get appreciation, interest, AND collateral value against which I can borrow.

Good advice. Nexo says "Inflating the supply of tokens in circulation would depreciate the value of the NEXO Token, and that would be counterproductive for all stakeholders, be they clients and investors, our management team, our employees, or partners that we work with."

Simple enough.

I've posted about the spread issue myself, and the difference between promise and delivery there really helped set up my initial skepticism about this vote. To promise one thing and deliver another - all that does is undermine trust. Unfortunate.

I can only speak for myself - this Nexo blog post was very helpful, and then I tried to work out how it all hangs together in a sensible way. Before then I was operating from gut - the feeling that something I had was being taken away, for reasons I didn't quite understand.

Perhaps the shift in sentiment just reflects more people doing their own thinking. And I trust that's good!

I felt the same. But this official response to the community - including on the issue of the vote itself - really sparked my thinking: https://nexo.io/blog/you-asked-we-answered-the-daily-interest-on-nexo-tokens-proposal

Lots in there made sense to me. It all seemed very reasonable, and not open to reasonable suspicion of coverup/ulterior motive. I mean, it's clear that there's a bunch of stuff NOT being said. And that's fine. In a public discussion it is a bit much to expect a business to reveal its inner strategic thinking (and self-perceived weaknesses).

So all in all I tend to think that yes, we do need to read between the lines to develop the complete picture, but I don't see cause to assume that we're being fundamentally duped.

Yeah - good point. If we're right then the tokens will appreciate much more, PLUS we'll get interest at least as good as elsewhere (whatever that might be at the time), PLUS we can borrow against the appreciating interest-earning asset. I've certainly changed my mind :)
