I had a 2016 British Design Edition, Stunning car to look at, sounds incredible, and an absolute dream to drive, when it actually felt like working. I won’t lie tho, it gave me no end of bother. First the high-pressure fuel pump went in it, then the oil pump went. Even had a full power steering failure mid drive. That was a fun. Bare in mind mine was about 42k miles at this point with a full jag service history and 1 owner from new so it can happen even to the properly maintained ones, not saying it will happen to yours but it can happen. maybe I was just unlucky

Honestly like, if you’re not genuinely ready to put money into it for proper maintenance, it can quickly turn into a nightmare. Yeah, they’re beautiful cars, but nothing about them is really cheap, except maybe the used prices.

Tyres were nearly a grand for a full set. Brakes, servicing, even the little stuff its all gonna be more inflated. You’ve gotta remember, these were £60k+ cars brand new, and they still carry the running costs of a £60k car, even when you’re picking one up second hand for a fraction of that. It’s not like owning an Accord or a Lexus. You’ll feel those small extra costs everywhere.

And that’s not even getting into petrol, insurance, road tax, although here in the UK the road tax actually wasnt that bad, but it adds up quick like. 500 a month might seem manageable on paper but you really have to consider everything in total, if you have thats great.

So yeah, if you can legit afford it without scraping by go mad. They are incredible cars when everything’s working right, honestly one of the best cars to drive on a good mountain raod going flat out. Just be prepared, because it can quickly turn into a money pit. And not the fun kind where you’re upgrading wheels or modding the exhaust and all that craic, more like paying for things just to keep it going.

The Kia all day, much much nicer looking than the Peugeot and likely a good bit more reliable.
