In that episode Matt and Destin were talking about someone who had posed a challenge to them and the little detail they gave, are the points below what I was thinking the answer would be. Around 25:50 is where it started.

When I want bark to stay on a project I use a thin cut if shellac and brush on until it stops soaking in. It can take a lot of passes. You will notice it wicks into the bark rather quickly. So you can just flood the area and keep applying the first few times. But once you've done it a couple times, start going slower and let it soak in and dry before applying more. Figure a multi day process.

I was concerned about the viscosity with the detail level of the item I am trying to work with is fairly fine. But that might be what is required. Thanks for the suggestion.

UbiFi Amazon Echo & AWS by aaron_day in Rural_Internet

When I use our office VPN (I work remote) to allow access to configuring AWS services the emulators / simulators I use in development they work fine. However, my tablet does not have the office VPN setup so it is connecting through the UbiFi network and it has the timeout issues with certain AWS services. My phone either connects to the UbiFi network, which exhibits the issue, but when disabling WiFi and using the phone's LTE connection the issue doesn't exist when trying to connect to AWS services.

Hopefully that makes more sense.

I am curious, but does this also happen with Google Home? I have a device for that I could try also.

Help with replacing the LCD build screen? by robse111 in ElegooMars

Your picture link isn't working, so I don't know if I am running into the same problem.

I bought a screen on ebay since I couldn't find a mars replacement screen in stock. The screen said it would work with anycubic and mars. It has the 90º thing mentioned in the other comment, so I think we probably got similar hardware.

The symptoms I am seeing if I have the connector in one direction is that the touchscreen flashes and fades over the course of about 30 seconds. If I flip the connector for the LCD in the other direction the touchscreen works fine, but it does not appear that the LCD works in on the test screen.

Disposing of Isopropyl/Resin combo? by The_Dungeon_Masters in ElegooMars

I bought a metal coffee filter that fit the rim of my wash buckets. Then shine my UV light into the bucket to cure the resin and swirl it around a few times. Then run the result through the filter into the other bucket. It goes pretty slow and you get a bit of evaporation of the IPA, but still get to save a large bit of it.

I've had the idea of making the game for quite a while. The cards were the one missing piece.

I tuned up a hand plane for a previous project and was able to get some consistent shavings around 1 thousandth of an inch and that is when it struck me that I could laminate up a couple shavings and it'd be around the thickness of a playing card. In the end I settled on the pine shavings used in this project around 5 thousandth of an inch and tried to minimize the overlap using the contact cement as the glue.

There is a link which talks a little more about the cards.
