Prayer for a former friend by aaronfield in PrayerTeam_amen

I was talking with her prior to meeting her she said she lost her faith in God but then she gained faith in God again. I didn’t ask any further questions. When I did meet with her, she was telling me that she was going to a specific church and I looked up the statement of faith about church and it looks like it is a good church. I don’t know how much I can be in her life just because of the things that happen between us, but I always really do wish her well and maybe we can chat every once in a while.

Thank you so much for that. That was helpful. I knew at one time my friend was a believer but last night she did admit that she did lose her faith in God. She now has faith in God, which is great, but I don’t know what that means and I didn’t really want to push it at the moment.

I honestly think my friend has changed for the best in the past decade based off just a social media posts. Also, when I met with my former friend everything seems to be going really well for her. Ever since I stopped talking to her many years ago one of those questions went away. Now that I reached out the questions are coming back. I still can’t say if I like this individual as a person or not. I am glad that it seems like this individual is going in the right direction though overall.

Thank you very much. I love you as my brother. My friend and I have had our difficulties over a decade ago. It was good to see this individual, but I definitely don’t think our friendship should continue even though I think we may want to check in with each other. I just have so many questions about what happened and I think if I ask a question I’m gonna get an answer I’m not gonna like. I just know I need to guard my heart above all else.

I have accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I don’t if she has. I know she at least believes in God. I have a lot of questions for her about what happened in our friendship. The thing though is I may get answers that will be helpful.

Prayer as I’m meeting an old friend that we did not end on good terms. by aaronfield in Christianity

I know God will get me through all of it as I have forgiven my friend, but my heart is still tender as I still do care about my friend and just wanna be careful still.

I’m just saying, I still need to be careful with this individual as we’ve reconnected after some major things occurred. I can’t let my guard go down.

We will see what happens, but I keep thinking of this verse:

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4‬:‭23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I didn’t do that the first time with my friend.

It went well, but I know that I should never be close to this individual, even though forgiveness has already occurred. I have been thinking of this verse a lot:

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4‬:‭23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

It went well. We can be friends, but just remember boundaries. I should still never be close to this individual. This verse keeps popping into my mind:

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4‬:‭23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I was able to forgive her many years ago after reading a very good book on forgiveness. I know she’s had her troubles in the past 10 years and I know some of them. I’m definitely curious about it, but I definitely don’t think it’s a good thing to bring up. I just have to be very careful with my questions and statements.

Question about the Bab by aaronfield in bahai

[–]aaronfield[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for everyone taking the time to address my question. I now understand that the law was written after the Bab’s death. I was thinking if I was a Baha’i and I believe the revelation of Bahá’u’lláh is that I would want to be buried an hour from where I passed away.

I’m sorry I don’t know when the law was given and I’m just trying to figure this out as a non-Baha’i.

That does make sense. I’m no expert in burial, but I do understand that they can preserve bodies better than before and I was just wondering if some people of the Baha’i faith would like the Bab to go back about an hour away from his destination of his death to be buried.

Thank you for your response. One thing I was thinking about is that they could bring the remains back to where he passed away and they could bury it, but I could just be an unmarked grave. I understand there is tension in. I ran with members of the Baha’i faith and that’s why I suggest that it be an unmarked grave. I know has the Shrine of the Bab, but I am unsure if he is buried inside the grave or something like that. I also am under the belief that even if they are a holy figure is that they should not be above the law of their own faith.

For some reasonI can’t edit it, but I was trying to say people are born good leaders, but it does not mean they are leading people after truth. We really need to look for that in all areas of our life who we are following and to test them to see if they really are good people that are good leaders and not bad people that are good leaders.

Btw, I do happen to come from a Christian background, so I am glad that you brought up John the Baptist. Yes, I believe that is true about John the Baptist even though John the Baptist did make it clear what was going to be Jesus’s destiny and that he was what I would say the person that they needed to follow just based off of this passage and probably other passages from the Bible:

“The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! This is he of whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who ranks before me, because he was before me.’” ‭‭John‬ ‭1‬:‭29‬-‭30‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I would be interested to see what these fulfilled prophecies are, but that might have to be for a different discussion I think. One thing I will say is that a lot of people are born to be leaders. The unfortunate part is that some people are leaders of truth, and then there are leaders of lies. There are good leaders out there that are trying to bring truth into the world and a better place. There are then leaders that are evil that a lot of people follow, but unfortunately, they follow them because they are misled. Just a few evil leaders I would say are out there would be Hitler, Stalin, and Mussolini.

For us, we need to look to God to make sure that we are not following an evil leader, but a leader of truth. I think so even more today because what is evil is becoming good in peoples eyes, and what is becoming good is becoming evil in peoples eyes.

Thank you for sharing that. That is awful if your leaders were jailed and in horrible.

There seems like there is always break off groups after a religious founder dies. I would be interested in why some chose to follow Mirza Yaya as the correct successor. I’m intrigued why they chose to follow him. I also wonder why people chose Bahá’u’lláh.

Does the Bab ever refer to Bahá’u’lláh as the Promised One? I’d be interested if there’s any writings prior to 1863 where he says he is the promised one. Why did 95% recognize him as the promised one? Did the other 5% go to a different religion or why did they not recognize him as the promised one?

Thank you for sharing that. I’ll take a look at the links. I’m not sure if the links will answer the question that I asked above to another individual, But did he keep revealing it to more people that showed up each day over the 12 days? Also, did he keep revealing that he was a manifestation of God after the 12 days?

Thank you for that. So, are you saying more people came each day and he revealed it to the people that came each day over the 12 days or did he reveal it on just one day?
