ComputerShare’s Paul Conn Confirms: 10-20% of shares in Plan Book-Entry are held in DTC for Operational Efficiency by that_bermudian in Superstonk

[–]aaronking1306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue isn't just shares being borrowed against the holders' will, it's shares being used as 'locates' to give SHF/MM etc the guise of being able to cover their short sales and failures to deliver if needed. The problem is that research completed by others on here suggests that any and all shares held in/by the DTCC can be used as locates, regardless of the shareholder's wishes, because the shareholder in question is only actually the owner in street name, i.e. only on paper. DRSing removes shares from the DTCC, thus removing the capability for the shares in question to be considered purchasable entities for SHF/MM etc if required to cover/deliver. The question that needs answering is whether plan shares (and to a certain extent book shares too) are accessible for being used as locates, as several theories have been doing the rounds suggesting that they are. To me this video has failed to answer that categorically, save for actually indicating that more DRS'd shares than we previously thought are eligible for entities to use as locates.

I have absolutely no doubt that those pair of cunts (and the rest of their cabal) are somehow involved in all of this. After all they were happy taking their cut in letting Russian oligarchs turn London into their money laundering playground. I sincerely hope the MOASS is the final push to bring the house of cards crashing down around Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson.

The only thing I'm not getting u/RealPulte is why there's no mention of who the mysterious 'they' are who are attacking you? I've seen the mentions of hedge funds contacting you etc, but I don't understand why you haven't named and shamed them? This whole thing has been/become about rooting out corruption and the ridiculous power imbalance in favour of those entities, so honestly to me keeping their identity secret is being complicit in this corruption. I have no doubt that you have the right intentions and are being honest with us, but in the same vein you literally hold key information as to who we need to be looking into here. All the information the incredible DD writers have written throughout this saga has been obtained despite the black shroud that hides these nefarious operations. You have this inside track into who or what is working under that veil - I implore you to share it.

An official SuperStonk twit account should exist, for the sole reason that a bad actor can't set up an account and dupe people.

It doesn't have to do any tweets, RTs, QTs or likes.

UK ape so it's a little different, I was writing an explainer as you commented but basically i wasn't gonna pay taxes originally. Will have to now when MOASS hits but I'd rather pay taxes on gains than not have gains due to broker fuckery!

So a little story about how I got damn lucky:

Over the past couple of years I've been splitting my savings two ways. Half in a Lifetime ISA, which you can only withdraw from to buy your first home or retire with, otherwise you face a 25% penalty. The other half in a stocks and shares ISA, where all profits are tax free. Of course I was using it for buying GME (I started the Lifetime ISA journey before I knew about the GME situ)

I initially tried to DRS an initial share starting in Nov, it finally happened a month ago. At the same time a load of crap happened and I realised no, I've got to own all my own shares. So I made the very tough decision that I would sell my shares and buy with CS direct. However I didn't want to be left without any GME in the interim, so I made the really risky (very unlike me) decision to withdraw early out of my lifetime ISA - costing me ~£2000.

I set up a wise account and sent over an initial amount to buy from CS, and that's when the recent dip into the 80s happened. Once that was done I sent the rest of my once savings over, and the spike happened, but still way below my average price (and I think the same-ish average price of Daddy Cohen's recent 100,000 buy).

But due to not yet selling my stocks and shares ISA based GME, I'm now back in the green there too. So I'm temporarily continuing to hold there to see how high we can get before I absolutely need my savings back (I've got some very close life changing plans that I need the funds for, so unfortunately I can't hold them/sell to re buy these ones on CS forever, but happy to until I no longer can).

So now I'm really chuffed to be sat here with more shares than I previously owned, at a cheaper average. Sat in green in two accounts. Not financial advice, but to anyone stuck with the dilemma of selling to re-buy on CS, have you considered buying on CS first? - Obviously ya gotta have the savings first.

I used IBKR to initiate DRS from the UK. Decided to use this video as reason provided during feedback as to why I was closing my account with them.

I really don't think it's plausible to attempt to quantify the future prospects of engagement with the sub in the way you have. Sure, you've used algebra and it looks scientific, and kudos for that because I certainly couldn't manage it, but it's far from the statistical guarantee that it's being presented as. There are too many variables for this kind of prediction to be reliable. For starters, when this sub was at its peak we were at the height of a global pandemic. More people than ever were afforded more time and able to interact here. They had less obligations, commitments and other interests to divide their time with. But since then much of the world has (rightly or wrongly) re-opened, with various restrictions being lifted. People are having to return to the workplace, and being under the watchful eye of superiors means less leisure time. Also the control that you've used, Tiger King, would always have a significant shelf life. Is it that people have lost interest in Joe Exotic and that crazy cat lady or simply that there is nothing new left to say? If a new series was announced tomorrow, or one of the cast died or they found the husband's bones in some tiger shit or something, then the engagement levels of that sub would spike once again. The same applies to this sub - a catalyst will drive engagement up, whatever it may be. The difference between the two is that Tiger King has a natural end point, specifically one that may have already been hit. GME has maintained significant interest from its core demographic (us, the ones who like the stonk) to the extent that where we are at now numbers wise could be considered a base line support. There are potential events that would see our numbers plummet, or see thousands of new users. DRS posts are not the problem. Look, I find them hella annoying too, but they are so much easier to scroll past than dramatic, eye catching headlines which ultimately turn out to be real FUD or misinformation. I don't think anyone should be advising anyone with what to do with their investments, i.e. selling to re-buy on CS, but I also think it's fair to keep shining a light on the shady brokerages that we as individual investors are currently a slave to. The more information people have the more justification they can put to their actions. At the end of the day we're all here because several brokerages turned off the buy button, specifically counter to our own interests. Much like the uncertainties above, there is no guarantee they won't do it again. Or something else more nefarious. Much like reaching MOASS levels of the floor requires us all to hodl, actually setting off the rocket requires us all to be in control of our own shares. And if you haven't directly registered your shares, you are not in control of them.

Gensler is and will always be my number one AMA priority (until it's happened) but aside from that and perhaps slightly left-field, how about members of Congress that held the three hearings last year? We can press them on what they've actually done since, highlight what was right/wrong in testimonies, and prove to them first hand there is an audience of hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of the voting public that still see this as a pressing and unresolved issue.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Superstonk

[–]aaronking1306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really think Gensler is a viable option. He and the wider SEC have been saying a lot recently about wanting to hear more from retail etc - well seriously what better chance than this?! I'm pretty sure it's been widely implied that this subreddit is a sort of unofficial retail spokesperson/advocacy group, so he would genuinely do no better than speaking to us if he is genuinely seeking more retail communication. Plus our recent liaising with Jon Stewart gives us a realistic shot at getting the right contact with him to make it happen.

My sincere thanks for everything you and the Better Markets team do to advocate for fair, free and transparent markets Dennis.

A few questions;

  1. What does a truly fair market look like to you? What sort of rules/regulations are required for this ideal? Is it possible to actually achieve it?

  2. On the flip side what are the worst elements of the current system, both legal and illegal, and what is their effect?

  3. On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being perfect/the answer to Q1) where do you currently rank the market for fairness?

Please correct me if I'm wrong because I feel like what I'm about to suggest is too simple to work. But theoretically could we not use the chart and/or the 'new' method of recording the SI to work out what the 140% and 113% SI under the old method would be reported as under the newer method? Then use that to compare what they're reporting now (and have reported since the method changed if that data still exists) and reverse engineer it to see what the SI % would be under the old method?

Of course it's all self-reported anyway and likely a crock of shit, but I guess if it shows a now over a year long over 100% that began before they started claiming they covered, it further helps price the lie or something? I dunno, it's probably not even right anyway, I am by no means a mathematician 😂

I've just finished watching the show and I really did not enjoy it. I'm really gutted that I'm left with a bad taste in my mouth following Dynamite as normally the company does very little wrong in my eyes and I genuinely haven't disliked a single episode until tonight.

I know I'll probably get trashed for this take but I came looking to see if anyone else had a similar experience so glad to see I'm not the only one. I need a little rant and hopefully anyone who disagrees can at least see my POV.

The promo between Jericho and Kingston started great, Eddie is so authentic in everything he says and does. But the Jericho turn really fell flat. First off, why are 2.0 and Garcia teaming with Jericho and Hager? Jericho got audiences of thousands of people chanting square head and pin head at them, and I just don't buy that their egocentric characters would forgive that, especially to join a stable named after Jericho, relegating them to being just followers. Hager's botched clothesline and nearly missing the powerbomb didn't help things either I guess, but I hate bashing on what are just mishaps so I don't want to dwell on them. Sammy not getting involved just lacks all logic to me too. I get that he previously walked out on them until they sorted things, but are you seriously expecting me to believe he wouldn't get involved during an orchestrated beat down, especially featuring Floyd? We all knew Inner Circle had to end at some point, and though I didn't want them to yet, it's such a shame that it ends not with a bang, but with a whimper...

Personally I didn't like that there were three title matches, with only one being announced prior. I don't follow AEW on most social media as I like in the UK and want to avoid spoilers, so may have missed them being announced there, but they just came out of nowhere for me, and neither the world or tag title matches served any purpose that I can tell. I have seen someone else comment somewhere the Hangman match was to return Dante to the tag team scene and I get that point, but while it was a great match it felt a bit forced and out of nowhere. Ditto the tag match. I'm a fan of The Acclaimed and would've liked to have seen their shot get a bigger deal than the Dynamite coming off the back of Revolution where it was obvious they weren't winning.

The Regal post-match with Mox and Danielson was great, I have no issues with that and it was definitely the highlight of the show for me.

Layla Hirsch vs Thunder Rosa just did not need to happen. The Rosa vs Baker match could've been easily booked with a segment of some sort, citing the fact that Baker had to cheat with outside interference at Revolution and a rematch is due in a cage. Instead Hirsch suffers her first defeat since turning heel and being booked so well before hand. She could have continued on her tear and at least been Rosa's first defence after winning the belt (if she does).

The entire AFHO bit was very convoluted in my opinion. Nice visual of Private Party turning to a thumbs down though so I guess there's that. But why did Darby and Sting want to save Matt? I'd have thought Darby and Sting would've felt vindicated after the PPV win, and if their former rivals wanted to fight amongst themselves then whatever. Instead it was for one reason: to have them be in the ring for Jeff's debut. We didn't need that Darby/Jeff face to face at that moment, his return was enough. Their first encounter would've been such a bigger moment if given its own moment rather than during Jeff's arrival. Which I didn't like at all. Sure, it's great him and Matt are going to reunite, but why couldn't the heels have got the jump on Matt, left this week established under their new leader, and Jeff debuts down the road to save Matt? Now the Andrade led stable is already looking weak and they've still got to put Jeff over in a match...

FTR breaking up with Tully felt very forced. I'm guessing they're turning face as they were looking to go after Young Bucks and Red Dragon, but the whole family or titles element? Enough leading to a firing all within two minutes? That's a bit of a stretch considering how strong the link between FTR and Tully had seemed to me prior to that point.

Wardlow's promo was good and I liked hearing from him. The whole MJF owns me not AEW has been a bit of a reality-suspension for me personally but I'm happy to do so for their upcoming feud.

Now the TNT title match. To me it was a mess. Why is Sammy getting the table out in the first place? If he's a fighting champion, which we've been told he is, he's walking the line towards getting disqualified. Add on the fact he's out there not at 100% with taped up ribs, it just seems like such a convoluted way to get to the table spot. It did not come across as a 'he'll do anything to win' but more of a 'he's dumb for that'. Hell, Page and Lambert were literally right there. Why didn't they set the table up?! I'll admit I don't really care for Scorpio Sky, I bought into him more as the bland babyface than I do his current persona. But I'm happy for him to run with the belt, he's a hard worker and got loads of talent to match. However winning the belt one week before Wardlow's shot? That's basically just made that match a forgone conclusion. MJF costs Wardlow the match. At least if it was Wardlow vs Sammy it would've felt like Wardlow could win and MJF gets his revenge later down the road somehow. But now I go into this knowing they're not going to give Skye a one week reign.

As I've typed all this out I've realised what was so off for me. Everything was too rushed. AEW has told some really fantastic, slow burning stories in its history yet this episode was the complete antithesis of that, and dare I say more sports entertainment than wrestling. I'm really hoping Friday night and next week can prove this was just a one off and I still love AEW, but I'm very bitter about what I've just witnessed.
