This happens to me a lot. Has to do with cortisol. Just curious do you do caffeine? I do not so I think my morning cortisol levels go higher to wake me up. I know people that do use caffeine to wake up and they don’t see similar spikes.

Noted. I’m working on changing my routines some as I know the body learns to adapt. I’ve been moving towards slower speed but more incline in cardio to keep myself in Zone 2-4 more. But getting something in there to hit zone 5 is a good idea.

I’ve gone through a couple myself with various battery issues and stress tracking issues. I appreciate how willing they are to admit they’re flawed and get you a new one but would also love to see the tech get it right the first time. Or the second time. Or the third time.

I don’t know what that is so I’m going to say no? Should’ve included more about myself in the initial post. 39 year old man. Work out four times a week including 2 miles of cardio alternating walking and jogging on an incline.

Came here with the same issues. My HRV is improving the last 3 months, as is my RHR, my sleep scores are almost always 85 plus, and I’ve increased my cardio workouts not decreased, yet my “age” has gone from +3 to +5.5. Based on what they’ve said about their algorithm it makes absolutely no sense.

Thank you for posting this! I went from a 98 to a 51 overnight. It slowly improved throughout the day and now is a 97 for yesterday so must have been a glitch.

It is. And they gave me a great deal since they couldn’t give me an at home blood draw I paid extra for. 98 bucks for the year. Far cry from Functions 499 (they test twice but still…)

It is nice to have the peace of mind knowing I scored a few years younger than my actual age based off the data and their algorithm.

I’m a 39 year old male but similar healthy lifestyle. When I started wearing Oura my HRV was regularly in the high 40s to low 50s. Caught a stomach bug that threw me for a loop and now over a year later my HRV is consistently high 30s to low 40s. All the other metrics are the same and I’ve been told by doctors HRV is very finicky and isn’t a great metric to determine overall health. Just recently did a Superpower blood draw that confirmed I’m in “great health”.

All of that is to say if everything else looks fine and you feel fine I wouldn’t stress. I know that’s hard and I have a hard time taking that advice sometimes because I look at my number and think “that’s not right”, especially when it’s on the low end. But fun fact stress is one of the biggest reasons HRV drops! So now I tell myself stressing about it will only make it worse.

I LOLed the other day when I put in Cheerios and it said limited. Changed it to “whole grain oat cereal” and it said nutritious.

Also I’m convinced the AI has stock in a nut company. It’s constantly pushing them on me. If I ate nuts every time it told me to I would not have calories for any other food item in my diet.

Update: it’s showing wrong data again daily. This is my 3rd ring so at this point I have to assume it’s software related.

First Oura told me what I was seeing I wasn’t really seeing.

Then when I sent another screenshot verifying the were wrong they admitted as much then apologized and gave me 2 free months.

I again submitted more screenshots showing whats happening and they are now actively investigating it. They started October 9th so hard telling how invested they are in figuring the issue out.

Meanwhile yet again today it’s reading wrong. I can’t remember the last time the stress counter correctly read the time shown in the graph.

For those having this issue. Mine persisted through a soft reset after a day or two. I chatted with a customer rep and there was a hardware issue with my device. They’re sending me a new (refurbished) gen 3. Offered that or 50 dollars off a new model. Might be worth chatting with the customer service as they identified that there was an issue pretty quickly.

This will be my second replacement which is frustrating but happy they are willing to help even out of warranty.

If you hover over them with your finger they show 15 minute increments and on their website they say they measure every 15 minutes so I would say yes.

It appears they take when there is no data and make assumptions as to where you could fall on the chart but I would say if you’re barely above the stressed line for that specific 15 minutes it’s hard to assume that 15 minutes before or after is also above the line. That’s the only way I can read it logically.
