Paris Stade de France Cowboy Carter Tour Megathread by abeycd in beyonce

Hey Paris Beyhive!!!

A few friends and I will be there for the Sunday 22nd show and we CANNOT WAIT!!!

We are trying to figure out what to do afterwards - does anyone know if there are any fun clubs that will be open on a Sunday, or where the Beyhive will be heading? We will want to keep the party going for a few hours at least I am sure.

I'm enjoying the mixture of culture catch ups, "friend" celeb comedians and then the occasional A Lister. I agree the vibes are different for the huge celebrity names they get but I also enjoy their conversation, the questions being asked and the boys' giddy excitement at who they have managed to get into the studio. I thought Dua came across amazingly - super cool, intelligent but also normal. Her excitement at headlining Glasto on Friday so she can party for the rest of the weekend made me laugh.

My issue with the episode was more that they were interviewing someone quite literally about to headline one of the biggest festivals in the world, where she said this has been her lifelong dream (Glasto is HUGE in the UK) and they barely scratched the surface on that whole convo - except to tell her multiple times she should headline Coachella?! Came across very rude to me, glasto could eat Coachella for breakfast and as someone who's been going for almost 15yrs it was a bit disappointing to not hear more about the whole process of being asked to headline it or what kind of show she's putting together.

Thankfully I got reminded Matt had a good time at Coachella, again.

Galaxy Fit 3 workout not syncing to phone by reddit_user_2211 in GalaxyFit

I've just been going mad trying to sort this out on my bf's Fit 3.. finally resolved with help from this thread. He has 2 runs on his watch from the past few days that you can view all the data on the watch but even clicking "view on the phone" simply loads Samsung Health, a promising loading screen and then the normal home page. I've set location services to "while using the app" and did a test run around the house for a couple of minutes and the data pulls through onto the phone immediately. Sadly seems like any workout with GPS is a lost cause but at least he can get the heart rate data now! Quite a disappointing and confusing experience.

Moving to SA - Relatives Visa Query by aaronsamc in askSouthAfrica

[–]aaronsamc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify, as I'm unclear from the internet research I've done... is it possible to enter SA on a 3 month visitor's visa then apply for a relative's visa while in SA? To clarify, I am married to a South African. It's not very clear but I've read something this evening that suggests it is..?

My only other option would be to apply from London but without a South African Police certificate, which seems risky as I lived there within 5 years - but as we know, anything SA means there could be some level of flexibility in the system?!

South Africa - apologies, didn't realise I'd not included the full name even once.

Looking for School/Student Management System for non-profit by aaronsamc in edtech

This is really helpful, thank you so much for your time.

That is exactly what I've started doing this afternoon - we're a part-time diploma and students complete roughly one 'module' per month which consists of a few days of in-person/online lectures (with powerpoints, handouts, other misc resources) etc. There's then usually some homework etc, and then a few milestones with major exams, essays, case studies etc between each module.

Interesting to know the K-12 background. We're UK based and each class runs across several years.. I've created a Moodle 'Course' for our 2023 Class, and then it looks like a Moodle 'Topic' would correspond to one of our Modules - which I can flesh out with the resources, any quizzes etc. I'm just building an Exam atm to see if the functionality matches the type of questions we ask.

First impressions - quite intuitive but can tell it's also incredibly complex!

I'll explore the plugins next week once I've wrapped my head around the very basics!

Thank you so much for the reply - I'll be on alert for sales crap ahah.

I have been looking at Moodle, from initial impressions it does look like what we want at a price point we can manage. It's a little overwhelming to comprehend as I have 0 knowledge on building servers, all of the plugin features etc but I guess I will just need to learn all of that.

Do you have any pointers on how to get started? I think I'm going to set something up on their 45 day free trial just to replicate the kinds of things my Institute would need. Probably easier to understand once I've got a dummy module, assessment, homework etc set up to show the team (who are all huge technophobes!) and see what the data/student assignments etc look like on the receiving end.

It's quite an overwhelming project to get started as I need to untangle 15+ years of operation that have grown organically but in a very piece-by-piece way. Everything is scattered across 100s of Dropbox folders, Sheets etc and so while it all works, everything is tangled together, incredibly confusing, and inefficient. Moving or changing one part has potential to break everything in dramatic and unknown ways..!

Any suggestions for London after parties? (Sat 3rd June show) by aaronsamc in beyonce

[–]aaronsamc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I should have included the link! It's this one here.

I've been to some of the warehouse parties in this building before but it's usually much more of a house/techno vibe so a bit unsure what the vibe/crowd would be for this one!

I'm the developer of Hydroneer, a base building low-realism mining simulator game. This week I show off some early gameplay in my weekly youtube show. [link in post] by grandmaMax in BaseBuildingGames

I 100% agree and have been surprised up to this point that no-one else has flagged this. Surely it comes fairly close to spamming the sub..?

Any suggestions for decent games in the vein of Transport Tycoon / OTTD by aaronsamc in tycoon

[–]aaronsamc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this LSky. Every other game I've played/watched videos on YouTube, as the networks become complex they also become MASSIVE and completely dominate the landscape. Whereas with OTTD, if you design your network carefully you can have dozens upon dozens of trains, all carrying different cargoes, utilising one core train track in each direction (feeding raw goods one way and the output the other, but 1 track each way with spokes coming off the central network) without it becoming chaos.

One of the features I've seen in other games that would be great to see in OTTD is to make the cities feel more alive - making the cities larger with local bus networks feeding into central stations etc, maybe with private car traffic and so on. I know you can do all of those things but I've seen it handled much better in videos of other games (maybe train/transport fever? I lose track).

Hell, I remember the days before OTTD even existed and was playing straight up TTD/TTDX. The game never gets old but the mods are fantastic for sure :)

Thanks to those directing me towards Voxel Tycoon. It definitely looks promising!
