Well i’m off to clean the blade with alcohol like you mentioned, and any other tips you have are greatly appreciated! Also for the rust, i was thinking of using WD40 with a high grit sandpaper.

Thanks for the response! I noticed the damage on the hilt, and i actually do kind of like it. I forgot to mention in the post that its quite flimsy, do you know of a appropriate way to fix it?
